1st time comment. Brent Bach was the strongest guard I have seen in the last 10 years. Bellarmine is fortunate to get this D1 player at their level. Traveled to watch him play 12 times this year. His outside shot needs a little work, but his speed with the ball is outstanding. He jumps out of the gym and gets to the rim over guys much larger. He has strong basketball intellect and made all of his teammates better. Avg. 31.3 points while involving everyone in their strength areas. He is a young senior with expected growth to 6'5". As the unanimous choice of the 10th Regions Coaches Player of the Year, he deserves this Bluegrass Preps recognition and should be 1st team All-State.

I really like his basketball instincts. He has a very nice feel for the game.

I watched him 4 times this year, as well as a couple last year, and never was disappointed.

You could make a case for 7 of them. End of the day Snider, Davis and Martin are the top 3 players in the state and IMO it isn't debatable. This isn't a team award.

 

Davis over Snider for POY is the most logical debate.

 

This is the argument I would make for Ruthsatz. CCH did not need Jackson Davis to get to AND win the state. Put Ruthsatz on Lafayette and they do I think a lot more than they did. I'm not making the argument for Ruthsatz, just saying that argument could be framed that way.

CCH had CVH, Bo Schuh and other pieces like Schult and Heppler that fit to make them a complete team. Even Keller came off the bench and helped defend Gilbert. Lafayette didn't have pieces like that. I don't think they beat Scott County WITH Davis.

 

I disagree that if you put Ruthsatz on Lafayette that they do a lot more than they did. He can't do the things Davis had to do to dominate for Lafayette to win.

Not having Hatton is shameful, in my opinion. He may be the best guard to play in NKY in the past 20 years. He can definitely score the ball as well or better than most on the list.

 

Hatton can definitely shoot the eyes out. I question his quickness and suspect his lack of jumping ability and just average overall athleticism will hinder him at the D1 level. He was a very good high school guard. Six years of varsity ball speaks to his physical maturity at a very young age. Strong court awareness, but not the best guard in Nky.. in 20 years.

That's exactly what I meant. Add Davis to CCH (with Ruthsatz) and maybe they win state. Oh wait, they did win state without him. That's what I meant. Ruthsatz GREATLY improves Lafeyette with Davis, more so than Davis improves CCH with Ruthsatz.
