theguru
It is sad and it (Gang Influence) has been an issue in the NFL for decades.
MJAlltheWay24
That's a heck of a lot of talent to release, especially for a reason that doesn't focus on $$$.
Jumper_Dad
Gang Affiliation was the #2 reason I didn't make it in the League.

Jumper_Dad
Read in one of the stories on this that they didn't want him to impact the rest of the locker room especially the younger players
mexitucky
No coach can possibly believe in his system more than Chip Kelly. Macklin was interviewed about this release and said, "We're the Eagles. This is a system that is made for fast guys that you can just plug in." (paraphrased.)
Bengal Maniac
There seems to be way more to it than just alleged gang affiliation, which has not been stated or proven as of now. He certainly hung out with gang members or had pics taken with them He hasn't been arrested and doesn't appear he will. He is an outspoken player who appears not to have bought into the Chip Kelly culture. He was making 10-12 mil next year and maybe the Eagles just thought there were just a lot of factors that weren't worth the risk for that kind of dough. He will be picked up and may get close to that type of money, but I doubt it. My guess is he will settle for a 1-2 year contract in the 6-8 mil range per year and try to earn another big one. On a side note, Marvin is friends with the family, according to Reedy (who now covers the Indians) on twitter. Not saying the Bengals will sign him, but I bet they kick the tires, as will most teams. He is a border line #1 and solid #2. He has proven he can stretch the field and get separation, that is always a hot commodity.

Bengal Maniac
Um, he's a definite number 1. If he bacame a Bengal, they'd have 2 #1s. He has had 3 of 6 seasons over 1000 yards. But his 17.2 yards per catch is insane. That's why I made the statement, goes silent in some games. But I understand why many think he is. No knock really, he is a plus on any team.
