Butler 49 Elizabethtown 38 (Sweet 16 Championship)

Featured Replies

Etown went last 5:27 without scoring, Bearettes scored last 10 points of the game. Congrats Bearettes!

Butler beat NCC by 2, then won in Quarters by 12, in Semis by 12, and in Final by 11. That is turning it on.

Congrats to Butler! I was really surprised when Lawrence was not named a finalist for Miss Basketball.Whenever I saw her play always thought she was a really good player. I'm sure being MVP of the state tournament helps her get over the omission for miss bball

Congrats to Butler. Not a huge surprise.

Congrats!!!

What's Butler have coming back?

The main thing E-town lost here was a chance to 3 Peat as State Champs, or at least go Back to Back.

Their lone senior was Tim Mudd's daughter who either started or was the 6th man.

I read earlier where six of Butler's top nine are sophomores and freshmen.

Butler did a fabulous job in playing keep-away from E-town in the 4th quarter.

Butler has a ton coming back. They have a very talented Freshman class and played mostly underclassmen.

Congratulations to Butler on winning it all and congratulations to Elizabethtown for getting to the final game. Both will be fun to watch as they return so much next year.

How many championships has Butler won? If I'm not mistaken didn't they win the first state tournament when girls basketball was resumed back in 1975 after years of inactivity?

Butler and E-town were stellar throughout the Sweet-16, and both have reason to hope for another trip to BG in 2014-15. They truly are two great teams with two fine coaches -- too bad only one can claim the crown. My recurring question has been this: Had the championship been played on Saturday night instead of Sunday afternoon, how might that have impacted the tactics and the outcome, if at all?

First of all let me say congrats to Butler. Well deserved!

Retro - Do you like the championship played on Sunday of do you like the playing semi and championship on Saturday?

Tim Mudd mentioned that he isn't worried about his team getting too tired in the sweet 16 because of the long tv timeouts.

I like changing the Championship game to Sunday. I want to give each team the opportunity to play their best basketball without fatigue raising its ugly head.

They have won 4 championships and hold the record for all-time wins in the state tournament with 26.
