Well my daughter won the Conner Christmas Invitational the year before last.

Well gotta run...I'm calling school and Coach Richey. I didn't notice our banners being hung in the gym and I'm sure that our rings should have been in by now!!

You mean Cris Collinsworth couldn't "pony up" and pay for a banner and rings? He pays for everything else up there......luxury buses, field turf, etc......:lol2:

Come over here in Camp Co. They live for the A over here. They have to worry about" let downs" after the A is over. They have to figure out how to motivate the kids again, once it's over. I'm telling you, it happens. I haven't seen that happen with "just another tournament". I also haven't seen signs and banners hung and rings purchased claiming state champions for "just another tournament". They focus on the A as much or not more than the regular region. Maybe it is just this area that is like that and maybe for the rest of the state it is "just another tournament". So maybe my vision is skewed by the area I live in and hear the most about.

Not sure about this letdown after the all A. Ncc girls won 7 of the last 8 games of the regular season after the all A. (Only loss was to Notre Dame who was pretty good). Also won the 9th region and lost to the eventual state champs Butler by two points when no other school came within 10 points of them. Wow what a HUGE LETDOWN. The all A is an important tourny but not the main prize.

Yep, NCC did fine this year. But what did they do last year? And what did Brossart do this year. And the fact that they didn't have the "results" of a let down, doesn't mean the still didn't have to deal with it mentally. They just dealt with it better this year. The "let down" is not a myth and it's not my opionion. It's the opinion of several players, parents, ex-players and ex-coaches.

Don't know if this has been mentioned as I'm not going to read through every post in this thread, but has anyone considered the fact that some kids get the benefit of being exposed to college coaches while playing in the All A Classic? I can speak from personal experience that the first two schools that got involved in recruiting my daughter first saw her play in the statewide All A Classic in Frankfort. As a matter of fact, it came down to those two schools as well as a third school when she recently made her final decision. Furthermore, our team benefitted greatly from playing well in the All A Classic which specifically led to being invited to play in the Gateway Classic in Montgomery County. This also led to our kids being exposed to even more college coaches. Can't we all agree that this is a good thing? It is all about the kids, right?

Please make it stop!!!! :facepalm::lol:

You know who you got to talk to about that:)

Until NCC first boys basketball team won the all a the other sports were not rewarded if they won say the State indoor track meet because it wasn't sactioned. They only started recognizing non sactioned events after the boys won their first all a., for years the answer always given by the NCC administration was if it wasn't sanctioned no recognition.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

It's up to each individual school district if they want to call off classes or not...they still have to go X number of days so if they miss for All A or Sweet 16 they still have to account for those days in their school calendar.

Exactly. No difference than Parocial schools taking days off for Holy Days. They still make them up.

RC it seems as if your the only one upset with what they call it or don't call it or how teams treat it or don't treat it. Since it has no effect on your school and takes nothing away from your school or your team I can't understand your position being so strong. We get it you don't like the All "A" because some schools (you feel) treat it as the pinnacle of their season...again that has zero impact on your team.

It's called the All "A" Classic...not the Class A State Championship. But teams can celebrate it however they feel...IMO.

Great comment Jumper. It is VERY obvious that RC is jealous of the ALL A schools and the fact his kids can't play in it. As you said, "Thou doest protest too much" to believe it is nothing more than something you don't agree with. Let people celebrate ant way they want. If you don't agree, ignore them.

Jealous???? I could very easily send my kid to the school that wins it all the time up here. I choose not to. Heck, I pay tuition to send them to their arch rival! Yea, the bigger school that they beat all the time but say they can't compete with. Jealousy has absolutely nothing to do with my argument. Maybe you haven't read all my posts.

I'll sum it up for you. If it's really just another tournment, then treat it like just another tournament. If it really is a state championship like all the rings, banners and signs say it is, lets go to classification. We all know why its there and why it's formatted exactly the way it is. To make sure the smaller schools don't complain enough about the sweet 16 format that bball has to move to classifications. They let them use the "classic" title and argue that "it's just another tournament". Really??? Do you really believe that it's "just another tournament".

Again, we won the Conner Christmas invitational just two years ago, I'm sure the banners are being printed, the rings are ordered and we are now proclaimed "State Champs"! Heck, I had no idea!!!

What drives me crazy is the hypocracy of the people that support it. When it's challenged as a way to allow for certain levels of classification, the arguement is that it's just another tournament. However, when a team wins it, they are perceived by all as the A state champ. Yes or no?? So I ask you, do we have two state champs every year? Yes or no? Because I can show you all kinds of rings, banners and signs that proclain they are state champs and when I look up the year, they aren't listed as the state champ. That's weird!

Then the biggest hypocracy of it all..."this tournament provides opportunities for the small schools that otherwise wouldn't get a chance to experience success and events like this". Reeeeeaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyyy?????? What a joke that is. It's for the little schools that can't compete.

Jealousy has nothing to do with it. I just say call it what it is and don't make more out of it...if it is "just another tournament", then you're not a state champion. You won a "classic". Saying you're a state champ takes away from the teams that really earned a state championship. Which not many teams can say they have done.

So you're saying that public schools can just take off any day they want as long as they make it up? I may be wrong, but I thought there were specific reasons a school could cancel learning time. I know I can't just take my softball team to play a game in Western KY and miss a day of school for some non-KHSAA sanctioned event. Maybe I can and maybe each district has a criteria that allows for this. But that would again add to the fact that this is NOT "just another tournament". Heck, maybe I will start scheduling tournaments during the week...if it's that easy to get off school for just any ole tournament! The girls would love me!!!

I'm not one that thinks it's all about "Opportunity" as some say, I just think it is an in season tourney for the smallest schools. Do some claim it to be a State Championship, yes they do...do those same schools realize it's not The State Championship, yes they do. It's been talked about that some schools put too much focus on the All "A", so what? Should they not try to win every tourney and game they are in whether it be the All "A", LIT, Bank One Classic or what ever tourney they play in? Would the All "A" not serve as a great preparation for the District Tourney and Regional Tourneys to come up a few weeks later.

I can't see why anyone would honestly be against this tourney just based on what some schools may or my not claim about it.

Maybe you should worry about scheduling games when you're actually in school, instead of on spring break.

Agree 100%, although the organizers of the event state that the winner is the "State Champ", so the winning schools run with it. I've got no problem with it, and the winning schools for sure know the difference between winning the All "A" State tourney and the KHSAA State tourney.
