Beechwood with all the D1 talent and they find themselves at 23. Man, the teams above must be crazy good.

Thanks niner. So hard to read much into baseball rankings because of the mitigating factors (pitching, schedule, weather) that go into every game, but it is nice to have a rough idea of who is expected to be pretty good. The 12th Region looks well represented, although a little surprised Boyle County didn't receive any votes.

I don't get this at all. Estill County took Letcher Central into extra innings last year in the regional semi-finals before losing 1-0, return majority of last year's team, a top 3 team in the region and don't even get votes for the top 25?

I get what you are saying, but Kentucky's best baseball is played in the 3rd, 7th, and 11th regions. With the 4th, 6th, 9th, and 10th close behind.

I may be a homer but the 12th Region has to figure in there somewhere.

Northern Kentucky got no love? Wow.

The coaches polls are political and biased, and coaches don't have the ability to scout all other teams. The PBR rankings come out Wednesday and will be a better assessment, since PBR and Chris Fuller actually scout the teams they are ranking. A few things stand out:

- Henderson County deserves #1 ranking. Well coached, good talent, and solid pitching

- Trinity HS should definitely be in the top 25. They return good pitchers, and are really strong 1-6 in the batting order

- St X (#7) was leading Apollo (#8) by 12-1 on Sat (during their scrimmage) when they stopped keeping score. Actual score was probably 16-1 or more, & X only pitched half of their good pitchers. It looked like men against boys. no way those two are separated by only 1 spot

- Lex Cath should be ranked higher. Great hitting and lots of team speed

- PRP lost a ton of talent from last year's team. #2 seems overrated

- Nelson Co has strong pitching and should be in top 25.

Just because they have a few players sign D1 doesn't automatically put them near the top of the polls.

Agreed. Although they still have a solid team.

It's the same thing this time last year. Beechwood was getting all kind of hype yet they couldn't really prove themselves.

Hopefully this year they have learned how to handle the hype and can ply up to it, for their sake.

I don't know how many people saw them, but to me they came into the games I watched them as being at times over confident and end up losing. Ryle wasn't really supposed to do much last year but look how the finished. Beechwood needs to go about the season the same as Ryle did. They simply were quiet and went about their business and let their play do all the talking. Beechwood needs to take a chapter out of that book if you ask me. Just go out and play and don't go into games thinking you are unbeatable because although they had some really nice games last year, they also looked very average at times.

Northern Kentucky got no love? Wow.

I think that has to do with the normal powers in NKY lost a lot of players last year. The normal NCC and Ryle etc. have a lot to prove with themselves along with others.

Beechwood should be the top team in NKY but we still need to see them actually play up to their hype. they failed last year to do that, hopefully for their sake they learned what they need to do to change it this year.

I agree. The 12th has had the State Runner-Up two of the last three years and has 3-4 teams in top 25 every year. Defiantly one of the top few regions in the state.

Agreed. Although they still have a solid team.

If they prove they belong there, I'm sure they will move up.
