One of my regrets is not taking a trip to see Brent Bach play this season.

Bach will become a legend in Augusta and 10th Region lore.

 

Here's my nomination for Bach for the 10th Region HOF in the first year of his eligibilty 2018-19 or 19-20. I think you have to be out five years - maybe not.

 

Too bad we don't have an all-tournament team so the kid could receive a standing ovation from the entire Fieldhouse tomorrow night. Maybe they can have him run out on the floor with a towel to wipe up a wet spot.

This was my 7th time watching the young man this season and each time was well worth the admission price. Never ceases to amaze.

1,002 this season, and an even 2,600 in his HS career.

The 10th is the best. Just look at bgp...more topics than any other region. Something about the teams and mystique of playing in March at the field house. Been there done that it and it's fans are awesome

Congrats to Augusta,the team had a lot of heart to stay with a team like MoCo! They just didn't have the height! Was a great season for Augusta n loved watching them. Best of luck to Mr Bach at the next level!

The biggest disappointment of the night was that there was no opportunity for the crowd to recognize Mr Bach.

 

Wow! That is one tough Augusta team, and one amazing player. That was also a wonderful basketball environment!

 

For the Indians, Darius Jones was amazing. Augusta had no chance to match up with him or Cisero inside, as well as Chase Hall. As much as Monthomery Co was favored, and some thought would roll easily in this game, I think this is a quality win for them. I think a lot of teams would have folded under the intensity and pressure of this game.

Fun game to watch & Augusta was in this one for a lot longer than most of us expected.

 

Game was a series of runs, with Augusta coming out hot & leading 14-7. MoCo storms back, but Augusta steadies itself & ends up with a 28-27 lead at the break.

 

Bach scores from 17 to start the 3rd & Augusta leads 30-27. Montgomery then rattled off a 12-0 run that culminated with a Technical on Augusta coach Jason Hinson. That big run & the score being 39-30...well, it felt like a blowout was brewing. But Augusta just wouldn't have any of that. With MoCo leading 43-34, Bach was fouled by Piersawl on a 3 attempt. Brent hits all 3 to make it 43-37. Augusta would score the next 5 points before the Indians added a bucket before the 3rd quarter horn, making it 45-42 MoCo to start the 4th.

 

Teams swap some baskets, but MoCo goes up 53-48. Then Bach gets an and-1 followed by another driving score to tie the game at 53 all, forcing Jason Holland to call a timeout with 3:34 left.

 

Xavier Piersawl hits what I believe is the biggest shot of the game for Montgomery when he drains a 15 footer from the left wing, giving the Indians a 55-53 lead. That was the score with 2:27 left & Augusta calls for time. Connor Maddox, who had hit four 3-pointers in the first half, gets a good look from 3 on the left side but it's no good. MoCo answers when Wallace finds Cisero to extend the lead to 57-53. Bach drives quickly & gets a good look, but it won't go & Wallace scores at the other end. Now it's 59-53 & 1:50 remains. Augusta patiently works for a shot, but Wallace gets a steal off an Owens Crawford pass & finds Jones for a dunk. It's 61-53 & that's basically the game.

 

In short, Augusta did what it has done all postseason--fought hard & played pretty well. Unfortunately for them, Montgomery County did what Montgomery County does. They ended the game with a 16-5 run over about 3 minutes of game action.

 

Darius Jones was the MVP for the Indians. He played well the entire game & really stepped up when Cisero had to sit early with foul problems. Cisero was a difference maker in the 2nd half. Scored 14 for the game & was 7-7 from the floor. Wallace was outstanding in the 2nd half & scored 10 of his 22 points from the charity stripe. Also had 7 assists & 6 boards. And Xavier Piersawl played really well too, dishing out 6 assists (seemed like double that).

 

Loved Augusta's effort, but they were done in by not having anyone other than Bach get much done scoring wise in the 2nd half. Connor Maddox was lights out from the perimeter in the 1st half, but only hit 1 in the 2nd half--and that came when the game was pretty much already decided. Camryn Snapp just had 4 points--all on free throws (0-7 from the field). But I thought he did a good job tonight despite that. Hinson had him running a lot of point, even though he's Augusta's tallest player. Dished out 3 assists & played composed in the face of a really good defensive team.

 

And what can be said that hasn't been said about Brent Bach. The young man has been an absolute delight to watch. I'm a huge high school basketball nerd & have been for as long as I can remember. In all my years of watching high school basketball, I've enjoyed watching Mr. Bach more than any other individual player not named Chris Lofton. He makes the game so exciting & I wish him the best wherever he chooses to continue his basketball playing career. Somebody is getting a gem, that's for sure.

 

Great game & great atmosphere. Enjoyed both games tonight with Papa & PB98. And even though I had to sit there all night & observe TAC across the way sitting in prime time seats, it was a great night. :lol2:

Well said. :thumb: To add to that randy. The adjustments MoCo made at halftime Were just what they needed and when they put their big on Maddox it all but shut don his scoring. That I'm my opinion was huge.

 

Not to mention seeing the lead singer for rascal flats as a ref was a nice change. :lol:

There is no better venue for the 10th region tournament than the Fieldhouse. Tonight's atmosphere was incredible. Try to get what we have somewhere else. Can't happen. We are so blessed in the 10th. MoCo, nice arena, but it'll never be the Fieldhouse.
