Augusta 71 St. Patrick 52
Forrest Gump replied to Randy Parker's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Good to see the Panthers bounce back at home after some brutal results from a road trip that took up most of December. The big key in this one was that the Panthers held the Saints' Andrew Sticklen to only 14 points after he dropped 32 on them back in the first week of the season. These two will tangle a week from today at Robertson County in the class a tournament. Should be a good one. -

Did not see this coming! Figured it would be much closer!! -
Augusta vs. Mason County Predictions
Forrest Gump replied to Quagmire's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Both teams should be extremely motivated for this one. Mason County will look to avenge another district disaster and Augusta looks to prove they don't need Brent Bach to defeat the Royals. This one screams Mason County on paper but the Fieldhouse floor is made of wood. It will take a total team effort for Augusta to pull this one out. I'm an Augusta guy and I started this thread so I gotta go with my guys. Augusta 79 Mason County 75 -
Campbell County 85 Harrison County 58

Give Campbell County credit, they made Harrison County look bad. I expected the Camels to win but thought it would be much closer!! Harrison tried to make a run in the 3rd but blew that by going 1-9 from the free throw line. They have shooters but none of them ever got on track. Too much talent to fall like they did. -
Pendleton County 78 Augusta 70

Pendleton County took advantage of every opportunity Augusta gave them tonight. And there were plenty!! The Panthers often found themselves out of position underneath which led to numerous second chance points and wide open layups. Hopefully watching the video of this one will have the Panthers better prepared for Saturday's game vs. Scott. After suffering their first loss, how they bounce back will tell a lot about this team. -

Yes Harrison thumped the Panthers last year. -
Connor Maddox led the Panthers in their win over Lloyd with a career high 27 points.

Augusta 79 Silver Grove 53

Yes they did. An effective zone that kept the Panthers out on the perimeter and kept the game kinda close early as Augusta was not hitting. -

Almost forgot to give credit to Silver Grove's Anthony Turcios who led all scorers with 32 points. Was very impressive. Had great speed and a number of moves to get to the basket. -

Panthers improve to 2-0 with win over Silver Grove. Connor Maddox leads Augusta with 19 points. Nathan Shrader had 15 and Owens Crawford and Camryn Snapp each finished with 11. Offense sputtered at times but defense was strong again. -

I am certain of Hinson staying at Augusta. Now may Bracken County have someone? That could be. Just hadn't heard that yet. -

For those waiting to add Augusta to the list, not so fast. Jason Hinson has decided to stay with the orange and black. Bracken County's search continues.... -
Realignment for basketball

I've heard talk of more 9th region teams invading the 10th. Any rumors of that still out there? -

Just my gut feeling here but I don't think Hinson goes anywhere near the BC job. Yes he coached jr high there and he graduated from there but IMO it's the last place on earth he'd go. -

I was happy for Chad when he got the job. Glad to see Bracken County award loyalty. Now I would imagine they look elsewhere this time. They do have some talent but it's still young so patience will be needed. Developing that talent is the key to Bracken County having any future success. IMO they have a lot of work to do. Best of luck to Coach Persinger. Hope to see him on the sidelines again soon. -
Montgomery County 69 Augusta 58 (10th)

There is no better venue for the 10th region tournament than the Fieldhouse. Tonight's atmosphere was incredible. Try to get what we have somewhere else. Can't happen. We are so blessed in the 10th. MoCo, nice arena, but it'll never be the Fieldhouse. -
Bach finished the regular season averaging 30.6 ppg I believe. Good enough for 2nd in the state. He's reached legendary status in the little town of Augusta. The Mason County student section may show up at graduation to cheer the end of his high school days. They've had enough.

Mason County/Augusta predictions
Forrest Gump replied to polarbear98's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
First of all, isn't it fun to have this up for discussion? Remember when whoever played the Royals was doomed? Times have changed for sure. Augusta knows what they need to do to win, they are confident and they are the defending champs. I'm picking a repeat. Augusta 69 Mason County 61 -
Augusta 82 Bracken County 69

Bracken controlled the 1st quarter by taking care of the ball and really limiting Augusta on offense. In the 2nd quarter with BC leading 27-14 Augusta would go on a 17-4 run to close the half with 2 of BC's points coming on 2 free throws with 0.7 seconds to go. BC took an early 5 point lead in the 3rd only to see Augusta comeback to lead by as many as 11 but BC once again trimmed the lead as Augusta led 54-48 after 3. In the 4th quarter Augusta's defense continued to cause trouble for the visitors as did Clay Gray, that guy they left open back in the first half. This was BC's 8th straight loss to Augusta. The Panthers improve to 15-10 and the Polar Bears fall to 9-14. Augusta returns to action Friday at home vs. Paris. -
Augusta was behind at the end of the first 3 quarters but outscored Model 23-8 in the 4th quarter to pick up the comeback win. The Panthers improved to 13-8 and will face Brossart at home on Tuesday. Also congrats to Brent Bach. He's a great player that has worked so hard to achieve this milestone. It's a pleasure to watch him play.

Interesting note. Bach may very well break the scoring record tonight vs. Model. Also playing today at Nicholas County, Burgin. Coached by current Augusta scoring leader, Brian Kirk. I am uncertain what time Burgin plays, or if Kirk will still be in Carlisle when our game starts.
