Ugly game.

 

Didn't stick around to get stats, but Hunter Wood and Michael Antrobus played well for Pendleton. The Wildcats held Austin Crawford to just 5 points.

Was wondering what the foul stats were. Seems like both teams were shooting a lot of them in your update thread.

I'm not great with shapes, but it appeared to be a Diamond-and-one, although they did throw some double-teams at him. Bracken had him on the block most of the night. I would guess that he put up maybe 8 shots.

 

The game was a yawner from start to finish, but Pendleton pretty much dictated the flow on the defensive side of the ball. They had a plan, stuck with it, & it worked.

I guess it depends on one's point of view, What was a yawner to you was a thing of beauty to Wildcat fans. Hunter Wood had 23 and shadowed Crawford for about half of the game. Antrobus had 19 and hunter Lea was his usual beast on the boards. I thought Coach Belcher had a nice game plan and the kids executed it well. I thought shot selection was good and great patience was shown on offense. Great adjustments by Coach Belcher from the first Bracken game and since the loss of Dontaie Allen. Grant Walsh also did a fine job on Crawford when Wood was not defending him.

Coach Miles seemed content with letting the other 4 on the floor win the game...didn't make any adjustments.

From my view it looked like a combo of a box and one and a triangle and two. :idunno: didn't see this coming but kudos to coach Bealcher and the wildcats the had the right gameplan. We just did not adjust to it. We got taken to the woodshed tonight just have to learn from it and move on.

I wholeheartedly agree with the game plan & defensive effort being solid. My "yawner" comment was not intended to be a slight to Pendleton County or take away from the victory.

 

That said, the game was still a yawner to me. By my count, PC scored either 29 or 31 of its 65 points (missed 2 points in the update thread) from the charity stripe. It's just not entertaining for me to watch a team shoot a bunch of free throws. Add into that a team that was horrific offensively and it's a yawner.

I've never been a fan of Chasteen's officiating, and a friend predicted the ejection in the first quarter. :lol2:

 

Having said that, if the coach didn't sit, there's not much else an official can do.
