Nice work TAC.

Some initial thoughts:

1. Surprised Bach isn't higher (PPG).

2. Surprised Bach isn't higher (FT %).

3. Surprised Bach isn't higher (3 PT FG %).

4. Surprised that Madison Central and Doss board so well. Seriously folks, look at their size and the competition they play. That's serious props for them in a tournament setting. Limit your opponent's scoring opportunities while maximizing your own? Why not?

5. Dang, Brent Bach is good.

6. Chip McDaniel of Clay County is underrated.

7. Clay County has some shooters to be up there in 3 PT FG % & FT %, which likely goes back to Chip McDaniel being underrated (maybe so for Trey Farmer as well).

8. Did I mention that Brent Bach is good?

9. Brent Bach, Brent Bach, Brent Bach.

10. You can't say enough good things about this small kid at Augusta that lights it up. I think his name is Brent Bach. Has anyone else heard of him? Someone called him a force of nature.

Posted

Bach finished the regular season averaging 30.6 ppg I believe. Good enough for 2nd in the state. He's reached legendary status in the little town of Augusta. The Mason County student section may show up at graduation to cheer the end of his high school days. They've had enough.

17 boards per game is serious work.

This may be the most impressive stat. PPG can be a result of pure number of shots taken. Johnson not only grabs the rebound, 4 per game more than the next closest, but it does not look like it is off of his own miss as he is averaging 67.8 % from the field. Plus the kid can take a punch.

Madison Central is one of the more physical teams I've seen in a while. They may not be extremely tall, but they have plenty of size/strength to push people around under the basket. They really work hard on the glass, and can earn a lot of extra points on the offensive glass.

Jones is extremely strong and physical, and George also battles really hard on the glass.

No assist numbers?

Or blocked shots.

But if we fear the validity of some of the numbers now being submitted whether due to sloppy statistical work or intentional padding, when you get into assists it can go wild.

But it would be nice to have assists and blocks listed, but that would probably be one more roadblock to keeping some teams from submitting stats. In fact, if all stats requested had to be supplied before any could be accepted then it would add to the number of teams who don't or won't provide their team's stats.

Debates about stats are always funny. Most of them are bloated. Especially when it comes to rebounding and FG%. Over half the schools, and generally the better ones, don't report stats.
