Heard he signed a 10 Day contract with the Nets today. Anybody else hear that?

 

Yeah, he's suiting up vs the Lakers tonight.

ESPN is all abuzz about Collins signing the 10-day contract. What will they do if and when the WNBA has an openly lesbian player?

I'm not usually as anti-media as most with these hyped up stories like Tebow, the Yankees, LeBron, etc. Most of these have a base of interest and people love/hate the subjects. With Collins and Sam, this is a full blown media non-controversy that 99% of people could not care less about.

Tonight in 11 minutes vs. the Lakers: 0 pts., 2 rbs., 0 ast., 1 stl., 0 blk., 2 to., and 5 pf. yet somehow, his performance will be a top story on sportscenter.

The Sam one I actually understand with him getting all of the coverage he did. The Collins press frenzy baffles me. He's gay, ok, the guy is the 9th guy off the bench.

Also don't get me started on how I think the Nets exploited Collins as well.

Exactly! Why does it matter. Why does the public need to be reminded of his decision and lifestyle. So is he a NBA player or a gay NBA player?

So a career move by coming out. Smart financially but shame on him if the reason. But you can't want to wonder if that was the reason.
