In a game broadcast to GIs via shortwave radio, Pirates' outfielder Vince DiMaggio shines for the Senior Circuit hitting a single, triple and home run. 1960 The Yankees host the second of two All Star games played in three days. The contest marks the return of Willie Mays to the New York as the San Francisco Giants superstar goes 3-for-4, including a homer and a single off American League starter Whitey Ford, pacing the National League to a 6-0 victory. 1963 At the age of 43, Early Wynn pitches the first five innings to record his 300th win as the Indians down the Kansas City A's, 7-4. In 1943, Red Sox player-manger Joe Cronin accomplished the feat against the Philadelphia A's. 1982 In the first All-Star game played outside the United States, the National League cruises to its 11th straight win beating American League at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, 4-1. Dave Concepcion's second inning two-run homer off Red Sox starter Dennis Eckersley is the turning point of the game.

Laughing at the unusual alignment, the 'Splendid Splinter' doubles in his first at-bat against the new defense. 1967 Against Juan Marichal at Candlestick Park, Eddie Matthews hits home run #500 as an Astro. The former Braves third baseman, who hit 493 homers playing for the franchise in Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta, becomes the seventh major leaguer to reach this plateau. 1968 Hank Aaron hits home run #500 off Mike McCormick becoming the eighth major leaguer to reach this milestone. 'Hammerin' Hank's three-run homer over the left center field fence proves to be thee difference as the Braves beat the Giants at Atlanta Stadium, 4-2. 1970 In the twelfth inning of the All-Star game, Pete Rose bowls over Ray Fosse at the plate to score the deciding run in an exciting 5-4 National League victory at Riverfront Stadium. The Indian catcher, whose career will be shorten because of the collision, entertained 'Charlie Hustle' as a dinner guest the previous night 1972 Tigers' catcher Tom Haller looks over his shoulder and sees his brother Bill, the home plate ump - a major league first. 1992 Mariners' outfielder Ken Griffey, Jr. homers off Cubs' hurler Greg Maddux making it the first time in history a father and a son have hit All-Star home runs. His dad hit one off the Yankees' Tommy John in the 1980 Mid-summer Classic
