February 5, 201412 yr You didn't show me one post yet that I jabbed CCH students simply because they ar CCH students, yet you said I was the one doing that That was in response to BD blaming Ryle and coming off as CCH could do no wrong I sure hope you know how to comprehend th context. Have you read my early post? Would you like me to show you? Brother you are ponderous- just ponderous...and a little insecure. I defy you to show a post where I "blamed" Ryle. I have stated nothing except to say it was a series of unfortunate circumstances and poor decisions by several people (Placing a valued poster directly behind the CCH student section where it had a high risk of being damaged, the CCH student responsible (accidentally or not) who ripped it; the decision to post this all to Facebook. I- in fact- stated that YES YES YES a CCH student was responsible for ripping the poster. How more clear should I be HB? The ONLY one stating CCH students could "do no wrong" in this ridiculous thread (sarcastically or not) is YOU. (post #139) I repeat- no CCH supporter on here has said or implied their kids can do no wrong. Kids are kids.
February 5, 201412 yr I personally believe there will be some sort of public apology long before the game next Tuesday. I'm sure, and it isn't because it's Cov Cath because I feel any school involved would handle the situation accordingly, that the right thing will be done long before the game. I would not be surprised if at least a letter of apology isn't already in the works. If nothing is done before the game Tuesday, well that would be a bigger shock than the incident itself imo. I don't think the majority of students at CCH would condone the action that took place and it isn't everyone gaining up against CCH either. There are many kids at CCH who grew up side by side with many kids in union and played sports etc. with a lot of them. The Bir's come to mind and one of my fav's at CCH, the dance king himself....Pork Chop. I am of the belief that if Christian would of seen what was about to happen he would of put a stop to it. As I said earlier, I think there is a silver lining. It has got a group of young people to unite which no matter what the circumstances are, is always nice to see, especially in this day and age. As I've said, I have no ill iwill toward CCH at all. It as an individual that is to blame. Sorry if that didn't come through I, as I posted last nigh, was very upset at Bluedad's finger pointing at Ryle. I was never upset at CCH. Just those that won't put blame on the guilty party which just so happens to be astudent that attends CCH.
February 5, 201412 yr That was in response to BD blaming Ryle and coming off as CCH could do no wrong. I sure hope you know how to comprehend the context. Have you read my early post? Would you like me to show you? When I got back into the thread this morning, I went through and read the whole thing en masse. I read all of your posts, and I understand the context perfectly well, thank you. There's no need to be snarky about that. I'm just saying that your comments have definitely appeared to take on the characteristic of someone with an axe to grind with Cov Cath beyond anything involving the incident with the sign at the Ryle game. I'd also point out that I'm not the only person to have noticed that. Up in post #159, hoops5 also noted your comment about "Your almighty untouchable COV CATH students"....so it would seem that I'm not the only one questioning your motives here.
February 5, 201412 yr To me the higher standard talk smells of arrogance, and is a underhanded slight to other schools. For the record my daughter graduated from NDA. Well it's not intended to be arrogant. Luke 12:48 - "Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more." All about being held to a higher standard.
February 5, 201412 yr I didn't say that. I was responding to Hellbird's assertion that he wasn't trying to say that Cov Cath students are any worse than any other student body. I said it sure appeared that he was implying that. And to answer your question, I don't think the students are really all that different, no. However, I think they are held to a higher standard - sometimes justifiably, and other times unjustifiably. Much of this higher standard is coming from within the school and church community, and it's a good thing. However, Cov Cath students often have a bullseye on their chest when they go out in their Colonel Gear, or attend school/athletic events representing the school. Unfortunately, the fact that they are from a 1) Catholic school, and 2) private school can sometimes arouse ire in the people they encounter. Like it or not, that's a fact. I'm not saying it was Hellbird's impetus, but regardless, that does happen. "And to answer your question, I don't think the students are really all that different, no. However, I think they are held to a higher standard - sometimes justifiably, and other times unjustifiably. Much of this higher standard is coming from within the school and church community, and it's a good thing." It's statements like this that get people outside of the CCH community fired up. You made it sound as if other schools systems have low standards within their home and church communities compared to CCH, which is totally false. The "Young Life" community as well as many others along with some great parents take pride in the standards they instill in their children. Which could possible match or better the CCH standards(who knows?). I may be reading your post a little harshly, but that how it comes off.

I know you were essentially posting at the same time as I was when I posted that...but that's what we're talking about when we speak about a higher standard at Cov Cath. That standard just isn't being preached in public schools. It legally cannot be, as a matter of fact.
February 5, 201412 yr Clearly someone at Ryle saw it happen- then took a photo of it- then posted to Facebook. An adult someone. Why let it get all the way to Facebook? Tell the administration who would, in turn, tell Bob Rowe. As mentioned, there were a hundred boys in between Rowe and the railing where the banner was taped- not much to see. You putting the responsibility on Ryle to do something, then why didn't someone on the Ryle end of things go to Bob Rowe right there and then? Or go to the Ryle administration so they could go to Bob? It sounds like it happened right at the beginning of the Varsity game during introductions - I guarantee it would have been handled right there and then rather than having it posted as a Facebook item after the fact which does NO one any good.Again placing blame on Ryle Come on, man. You expect a kid to rat out another kid? The adult who saw the sign being ripped should have found Bob Rowe and it would have been taken care of. Instead, they decided to put it all out on social media like a kid would do. Lawdicat blaming Ryle for where this went and your reply to her post is what set me off last night. With one simple word you agreed again and try to push blame on Ryle for this going in the direction it went instead of blaing the guilty party Bingo Brother you are ponderous- just ponderous...and a little insecure. February 5, 201412 yr So you see how things that are said can be taken out of context then? You see, it was you who said CCH students should be held to a higher standard, not me. Yep. I said that all the way back in post #16 too. I don't think it's being taken out of context - it's being misunderstood.
February 5, 201412 yr All I'm saying in this is I'm not ready to condemn a child for life for what may or may not have been accident. The tone of this whole thread to me seems that he is a terrible person who should pay dearly. Cut the kid some slack and trust that this issue has been taken care of and will be made right with the people affected in the Ryle community. Let's let this thread rest. I'm a Cake Eater for goodness sake; I'm tired of saying nice things about these guys...
February 5, 201412 yr You putting the responsibility on Ryle to do something, Again placing blame on Ryle Lawdicat blaming Ryle for where this went and your reply to her post is what set me off last night. With one simple word you agreed again and try to push blame on Ryle for this going in the direction it went instead of blaing the guilty party So where those not legit questions to ask? I didn't absolve the CCH student in asking the question did I? I think I've said this so much it's like Groundhog Day dealing with you. The ripped poster is the CCH student (or students) fault. What isn't known is the intent. What can be learned from this? 1) Don't tempt fate by placing a valued object in a place where it risks getting damaged. 2) As a visiting student, act respectfully in your hosts environment 3) Resist the urge to post to Facebook -especially about such a tragic and divisive issue.

Luke 12:48 - "Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more." All about being held to a higher standard. May not be the intention, but that's exactly how it comes across. CCH students are not held to a higher standard than any other private catholic school students, or public students for that matter, are. To claim otherwise paints the picture that you DO feel they're better than everyone else.

February 5, 201412 yr Read post #45 What am I supposed to get out of a poster who asks "I thought CCH students were supposed to be the best of the best"? Don't know whether this guy supports CCH or not. I took it ( and I think most people here with any English comprehension at all took it) as sarcasm. Something you like to fall back on when the coals get hot.
