Hey what about this crazy idea.....

Let the coach get in town, evaluate the talent that he has and then decide on a strategy based on that talent!

Just a thought...

Do you have a run/ pass/ total snaps breakdown? Don't know much about his 0"s, just curious.

Passing to running has been about 60-40. Exact stats are over on KHSAA.

Catholic rarely has (or had) large linemen to establish a solid 'power' running game. But solid QBs, wideouts and RBs with good hands seemed to always be available. Justin Burke, Nick Ward, Kyle Bolin and current starter Reese Ryan are all pocket passers who could run - but rarely by design.

It can be exciting watching a team that throws more than runs. But it can also be frustrating when if things are not 'clicking'. Sort of like a basketball team the shoots a lot of 3s.

Maybe Tanner Morgan will return to Ryle?

This season

Ryle rushed for 1515 and threw for 748

Lex C rushed for 2366 and threw for 3549

Get ready for culture shock during the first year.

This is a question that was never a question at LexCath. They had D1 QB after D1 QB for the past 10 years or so. I am sure the new coach will select the kid that will give them the best chance to win.

Coaching and system has something to do with that. I personally watched their players and they are well drilled fundamentally and have an opportunity to play in a great system. Which comes first the chicken or the egg? Natural talent has more that 50% to do with being a great player but how much more is an age old question.

Nelson county had a record setting passer 2 years ago. He graduated and all off season I heard gloom and doom. They plug in the next guy and all he does is go for 3441 yards and 36 tds. Neither guy is D1 and Nelson County hasn't been known as a hotbed of college talent.

No kid has ever been given a D1 scholarship because of coaching or a system. The kid either has D1 skills, height, arm strength, etc. or he doesn't. Coaching and a good system helps kids make the right reads, have good mechanics, footwork, etc., but it will not make him D1.

Houston Hartz Owensboro Catholic

Drew Houliston Highlands

Jonathan Breeding Nelson County

all threw for better stats last year than Elijah Sindelar and none of them will be D1 quarterbacks.

Dylan Hamilton Betsy Layne

Tyler Ackerson Bellevue

Anthony Phillips Caverna

Devin Hayes Bowling Green

along with those listed above all threw for more yards than Drew Barker and not 1 will be a D1 quarterback.

This is the point. You are either D1 or you are not. Coaching, system, stats, etc. don't matter. Kids either have D1 talent or they don't.

OK then I don't care about D1. You brought up D1 like that was the reason Lex Cath could pass the ball and Ryle won't because they don't have a D1 qb. You can't have it both ways.

I don't even know why i'm letting this bother me because in FACT not every Catholic qb in the last 12 years has been D1 and they haven't missed a beat.
