Who will be the next QB at Ryle

Featured Replies

There is a very important aspect of playing QB hasn't been mentioned yet.

You must be very cerebral to be a succesful QB as well.

Yep. Maybe the most underrated aspect by far. Part of having that "IT" factor, IMO.

Having brains helps but I know of a number of dumb as rocks QB that did extremely well in HS and college. It really comes down to what you ask them to do. You can teach a monkey to throw hitch, curl flat and boot. You just don't ask a kid to do something outside his skill set and work to take advantage of what he can do.

It was meant more as game smart, not necessarily book smart.

No one said footwork isn't important. 70% important? That is really going to depend on how broad you want to make the category of footwork. Footwork is only as important to throwing the ball as it relates to preventing the hips from locking and allowing the arm to get to the zero position. Past that over striding but that is more of a power issue than accuracy.

I love it, get to zero!!

I love it, get to zero!!

Slack knows what he is talking about. LOL

Did Brandt get a fair shake under Warner? I have heard that he got the quick hook early on after playing a very tough schedule.

I don't think the staff liked his throwing decisions after watching film.

Have you seen him play? He's very strong and has great hands. Not the fastest kid but fast enough. 6 1 and hopefully still growing. I think he is great in open space when he played some WR and has the size to be a nice blocker also at TE.

Now AlbertFT apparently is very closed minded but for those of us who have watched him play understand what he can do.

He is fast, strong, athletic. This is not a position where you put a kid in HS at TE. TE's in HS are usually physical, big, and an extension of the offensive line. England if not QB, will be playing WR or his talents will be used on defense.

He probably will be playing WR. That does not mean he wouldn't be a very good TE and possibly one of the best in the area at that position. To disregard the idea totally is quite narrow minded if you ask me.

Another reason TE would be a nice fit is because watching Ryle the last couple years they had no QB to ge the ball down field and using the TE more would be a nice way to open up the running game more. But what do I know, it's a good thing I'm not on the coaching staff right?

You haven't watched the TE in Englers offense much have you?

That sounds like Warners definition of a TE. The fans will have to get used to the philosophy change. Engler throws a ton of balls to the Te and flexes him a lot as well.

Lex Cath Te this year caught 51 balls and scored 13 Td

No, enlighten us what to expect.

Very good point. TE is valuable to Engler. He will put the guys where they need to be to be successful. Just hope mommy and daddy like where he puts them and supports it.
