Seattle 43 Denver 8

Featured Replies

Does anyone else remember that Elways 2 super bowl wins came when he stepped back and became part of a team with a running game and good defense? Maybe he needs to be in Peytons ear and the GM's ear a little and build it more like the 2 Denver Championship teams.

True, but let's take a look at some others...

Manning: 11-12

Brady: 18-7

Big Ben: 10-4

Eli: 8-3

Montana: 16-7

Elway: 14-7

Bradshaw: 14-5

Marino: 8-10

Kelly: 9-8

Favre: 13-11

Brady has another loss. He hasn't won a title in 9 seasons. 1 season he was injured, so he has to have 8 losses. 8-8 since starting 10-0.
I think illegal formation or illegal motion was called and not a false start.

Correct. Since Manning was moving towards the LOS - presumably calling an audible - at the time the ball was snapped, it was considered forward motion and a penalty on him.

You're correct. The #s I was using didn't encompass this year for Brady. Good catch.

It is tricky because it almost reflects better on a (post-season) career if you miss the postseason. In looking at the numbers I am surprised some of the guys didn't make more post-seasons. In particular Elway.

Some Catholic football humor here. For those who don't know, St. Blaise's feast day is today (February 3). He is the patron saint of throat diseases.

The only way I think Manning could bounce back and save any type of face from this debacle is to return to the Superbowl next season against Seattle and win. Chances are that is not going to happen.

I don't disagree, but it wasn't the Denver D that was atrocious. And the salary cap had nothing to do with the special teams gaffes or a snap by the earhole.

Seattle's roster is far better than Denver's. That includes how good their guys are on ST. As soon as Wilson gets his much deserved raise after next season their roster won't be nearly as good and he will have to be far better to mask that. Can he? Probably not.

Did you catch the piece on Grantland saying a QB should get credit for an extra win every year they had a Bye in the 1st round b/c they were already in round 2? I had never thought of it and now I agree with the premise.

And the salary cap made them punt I guess? Red Herring. What does that have to do with your argument?

You said Manning makes all the coaching decisions. I proved it terribly wrong. John Fox is a terrible coach that makes awful decisions.

Didn't see that. Makes sense on the surface...

Seattle employs something on ST that I hope the Steelers would consider once again, and that's having a few starters on ST. The salary cap will indeed constrain Seattle soon, but you're correct, the Seahawks were the worst possible matchup for Denver. They're physical with receivers, every single down grabbing at the LOS to not allow separation. That with the pass rush made the short passing game that usually turns into YAC for the Broncos non-existent.

John Fox has taken 2 different franchises to the super bowl. DC of a 3rd franchise in the super bowl and has a career winning record as a head coach in the NFL.

Peyton Manning installed his own offense in Denver when he arrived. Creates more of the game plan than any other NFL player. Calls more plays than any other NFL player. Makes more of the in game adjustments than any other NFL player.

Peyton Mannings greatness is hurting him. Seattle has a better team. You have negated neither of my statements.
