February 3, 201412 yr As far as the Peyton Manning talk goes.....I didn't think he played terribly. He was average. Some huge turnovers, but one of those could probably be attributed to the O-line as much as him. Rightly, or wrongly, QBs in the NFL are judged based on postseason success and rings. Manning will forever go down as one of the greatest QBs of all-time, however last night's performance more than likely ends all the talk about him as the GOAT. Top 10 without question, most likely top 5, but missing out on that 2nd ring is a huge blow to his claim to the top spot. His numbers (regular season) are second to none, but the undisputable facts are there that really hurt his case....Most postseason losses of all time. Has a losing postseason record for his career. This^
February 3, 201412 yr Peyton didn't have a fantastic game for sure, but IMO it was because everyone else on the Broncos walked around like they were in a coma!! Also, the script could not have played out better for Seattle last night....sometimes you just keep rolling boxcars. From the 1st kick....running out from 9 yards deep in the end zone...then the center snapping the ball to no-one, and there would have been a motion penalty to boot....the team choked, and that is on the coaches. Seattle has a very aggressive defense, and the 12th man helps by limiting the ability to audible at the line. It sounded in the 1st quarter like a home Seattle game last night, and I think that rattled the Broncos and they started trying to do too much which is a death sentence in the NFL. Denver's defense is not great...too many injuries, so I felt Seattle would be able to move the ball some, especially if they got in front.

Most post season losses all-time is almost a compliment, Has led all but one team since 99 to the playoffs...got to make a lot to lose that many :lol2:
February 3, 201412 yr The salary cap has nothing to do with the fact that Manning coaches himself and tries to take on the entire staff of the other team. You think Manning chose to punt down 29 in the second half on the good side of mid field?
February 3, 201412 yr Did anyone else notice that the first play safety shouldn't have counted. The was offensive false start called. That is a no play dead ball. The refs let Seattle decline a penalty that can't be declined.
February 3, 201412 yr They set offensive records this season that will be the benchmark for seasons to come. What are you talking about? That you have a really hard time also having a good defense if you spend a ton on your QB and other offensive players. Therefore you can score points but it's really tough to win a SB.

February 3, 201412 yr You think Manning chose to punt down 29 in the second half on the good side of mid field? And the salary cap made them punt I guess? Red Herring. What does that have to do with your argument?
February 3, 201412 yr I think illegal formation or illegal motion was called and not a false start. Good call then, thanks.

Therefore you can score points but it's really tough to win a SB. I don't disagree, but it wasn't the Denver D that was atrocious. And the salary cap had nothing to do with the special teams gaffes or a snap by the earhole.

Manning: 11-12 Brady: 18-7 Big Ben: 10-4 Eli: 8-3 Montana: 16-7 Elway: 14-7 Bradshaw: 14-5 Marino: 8-10 Kelly: 9-8 Favre: 13-11
February 3, 201412 yr I agree with what Trent Dilfer had to say yesterday about Superbowl rings. "I have 1 and Dan Marino has 0". "This ring does not make me better than Dan Marino".
February 3, 201412 yr Yeah, he's played in the 4th most playoff games all-time as a QB...and has the most losses. Manning didn't play great last night and didn't play horrible, team as a whole looked rattled from the kickoff. Manning Haters will always use this game as a referendum on his career which will be ignorant. Football more so than any other sport depends on the entire team and regardless of the betting line Seattle was far and away the better TEAM last night.
February 3, 201412 yr I agree with what Trent Dilfer had to say yesterday about Superbowl rings. "I have 1 and Dan Marion has 0". "This ring does not make me better than Dan Marino". Well, yeah, that's because Marino was a great QB, where as Dilfer was pretty much average. When you're comparing the all-time greats, rings come into play. Also, not solely rings, but postseason success as a whole.

I'm not sure how saying he's a top 5 all-time QB is being a hater....
