Drug addiction should be a Public Health Crisis in this country IMO.

 

Education is where it starts and we need to put more emphasis and money into educating our youth.

We always blame pot as the drug that is the gateway but I think its turned into prescription pain meds that is the gateway to more serious drugs like heroin. And in many cases, this is why people in the middle or upper class are getting addicted in my opinion.

How can you say smoking pot didn't kill anyone in my example?!?!?!?!?!

So are you saying someone drunk and gets behind the wheel and kills someone because they were driving impaired but it's ok because alcohol had nothing to do with it?

 

Using your logic everyone at Sandy Hook, Columbine, Aurora, ect that are dead are so because of guns.

So if I am following the logic correctly, shouldn't iPhones, lipstick, etc. all be illegal was well.

Ok, let's really get ignorant on the subject. This is the main reason I try and stay out of this very subject when it comes to debating it. It's because of the mental midget comments that come with it.

i don't think it's any one thing that is "The" gateway to other drugs. I simply believe it is whatever is available to the person is what the gateway is.

 

Some don't have easy access to pot, but do for prescription drugs, others it is the other way around. Even others use alcohol or even household products to get their high.

 

The bottomline is, what do all drugs including alcohol have in common? They all in one way or the other ulter the state you feel or the state of your mind etc. they make you feel good but why? One might make one feel invincible and another may simply make you feel calm, while another makes you hallucinate where you feel as if nothing can hurt you. All of them are used for the same reason, to alter the way you feel.

 

My point is and has always been, just because one drug isn't as lethal as others doesn't mean it should be ok to use.

It sorta twisted my head a bit when reading as I wasn't at first exactly sure what the heck they were saying. Now that I get it (I think), then I'm not even sure why they felt a need to report it.

HB, the point they're trying to make is this: That driver that walked away could just as well been a driver who drank too much alcohol, was distracted by texting or making a phone call, or putting on lipstick or shoot, even fiddling with the stero.

 

No one is advocating making heroin legal. But, ironically, the substance itself isn't to blame for the wreck. It was the poor decision made by the driver.

Lipstick didn't make the driver see blurred lanes in front of them etc. lipstick didn't lead the driver to drive 100mph when they thought they were only going 35mph. A cell phone didn't impair the motor skills needed to judge when to make that right turn.

 

That is my point.

I'd like to introduce you to the family of a girl who was killed by a texting driver who missed a curve. Or, to the parent of another girl who was the texting driver who hit a tree head on.
