Seems the popular thing for movies and TV these days are to take books or book series' and turn them into film.

 

What books or series would you like to see made into a movie or TV show?

Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas ​series.

I read a trilogy by Christopher Golden called "The Veil" that I thought was very good and would make a cool movie(s). The books have just about every mythical/fair tale creatures that you can imagine in them.

The Camel Club Series by David Baldacci. But not for TV. I want to seem them in movies.

The Malazan Book of the Fallen series (10 books) could be a huge hit as a movie series IMO, however it would take a ton of time, and an ungodly amount of cash to pull off. There's just so much detail and hundreds of characters that are essential. Would be unbelievably entertaining to watch come to life though.

Agree about the TV part. There just seems to be way too much development to cram into a 60 minute program. King & Maxwell is a perfect example.

Dune... done right. Not an easy task. Lots of money and bold vision that would ultimately be far different from the book, which has an unnatural amount of inner monologue.

 

The Illuminatus! Trilogy... the best secret society book you'll ever read. The plot is completely ludicrous and, although funny, would probably be considered unwatchable by too many people to make a large-scale project feasible.

 

The Simarillion... if not the whole text then certain stories would probably make excellent movies if we got Peter Jackson to calm down on the extended screenplays. "Beren and Luthien", "The Fall of Gondolin" and "The Tale of Turin Turambar" would all probably be entertaining movies.

I hope they serve beer in Hell by Tucker Max.

I'm currently reading the first book in a series by an author named Peter Clines. It's called Ex-Heroes. Think Avengers meet The Waking Dead. Basically a virus has been released causing zombies. Just before that people with superpowers began acting as heroes. First book has been fairly entertaining.

As a mini-series, the saga of The Brotherhood of War, W.E.B. Griffin. Not heavy, but it is a walk through military history from WWII on.

Tom Clancy: Jack Ryan series...a few of the movies have been made but the new movie has nothing to do with the novels and the time line is at least 30 years wrong

Tom Clancy: John Clark stories which are somewhat intertwined with the Ryan books but could def be a series of movies on their own.

There was a movie already made from this book, but it was made cheap and one that went straight to tv I believe. The book is incredible and I thnk with the right producers and director this could be an amazing movie if re made.

Did you watch the mini-series that SciFy made? I thought they were pretty well done. Wven though I enjoyed the David Lynch movie it was not a pure adaptation of the book.
