I remember the late 90's like it was yesterday and the struggles that Coach Smith had to go through to build the program at Boyle Co. While he was able to surround himself with many great coaches it did not come easy. I think the season before the first title they were 4-6. When he left he really had no choice (He had won the titles) and was going to coach where he played at a WIN/WIN. However, you must remember there are coaches that have been fired and the one's that will be fired. He was working for one that got fired. That all being said I think he feels that this is where his success as a coach started and he wants back in a environment that loves football. While he may not Win another Title, but I feel he will. He as Larry French have made a difference at Boyle County. Fortunately, Coach Smith can come back and continue to make a difference at Boyle, where many would never be given a chance. In 98 they were solid. 9-3, 8-4..something like that. In 97 they were a 9-10 win team and in 96 they were beat in the Semis by Breathitt @ Breathitt.

 

In 92 they had a 7-3 regular season, 93 I think was an exact opposite. In 94 they made a region final appearance vs Danville for the first time in a long time, maybe ever.

 

Things were rolling before 99, then things just went to another level.

Boyle has probably more talent this year than last. Their top players have that year of experience. It should be a great team to watch especially under Coach Smith's direction. Outstanding QB and 2 top RB's. They have people that can catch the ball, good kicker and their line grew up last year both ways. You know how Chuck emphasizes defense.

I saw 3 games last year (Danville, Anderson, Lex Cath) I didnt see alot of athletes. I saw a couple athletes surrounded by a lot of hustle

Looks like Brandon is trying to make a name for himself. He accepted the head coaching job at South Warren this week.
