February 1, 201412 yr Georgetown College officially files for NCAA DII Georgetown - Thu, Jan. 30, 2014 at 10:40 AM Tiger Nation, it is official, Georgetown College has once again submitted an application for acceptance for NCAA Division II affiliation. It has been a long process, but one taken with great diligence. Wednesday evening, three days before the Feb. 1 deadline, Director of Athletics Brian Evans submitted the final application. The Tigers have been provisional members with NCAA DII Great Midwest Athletic Conference for the past two years, and Kurt Patberg, Athletics Staffing & Consultants, served as the advisor for GC as it once again navigated the NCAA waters. Link Applying for and receiving are often two different things. Comments about the facilities are correct. However, KY Wes shares a HS field in Owensboro. GTown has better locker rooms and field than those guys have.

February 1, 201412 yr Thanks. With what they return and what they have committed, I believe they are a legitimate contender in NAIA. QB will be a senior and multi year starter, the receiving core stays almost completely intact, they will have to replace the rb and a few o lineman but they have pertty capable replacements, defensively they lose Messina which will be almost impossible to replace but return experiene and depth at nearly every position. As a Georgetown fan I am excited for the 2014 season.
February 1, 201412 yr Author Applying for and receiving are often two different things. True, but they have applied before, and were denied. Since that time, they have put in place some things that they were delinquent on to assure their acceptance when re-submitted. They may be denied again, but they are publicizing the move quite a bit and telling everyone they are going to be playing D2. I would say, they are pretty sure about the move.

As a Georgetown fan I am excited for the 2014 season. I agree, replacing Messina will be impossible, but I like Georgetown's chances. They return a lot.
February 2, 201412 yr Building that student rec center instead of a nicer gym was a really dumb move. The students would certainly been happy if alumni had been turned into the student rec center. The gym is awful. The bleachers in the gym are dangerous. But when it is full, it is a great place to watch a game.
August 29, 201412 yr Does anybody know where this stands? Is Georgetown Football D II or not? They seem to have NAIA schools on their schedule so I am somewhat confused.

KWC does in fact share with Owensboro Catholic, however, KWC also plays independently in D2 football due to a lack of GMAC members that field football teams

August 29, 201412 yr The most exciting defensive player I have ever had the pleasure to watch. He could take over a game. I put him on a par with Zach Goebel, 2011 NAIA All-American LB for the Tigers. Completely different styles of play from the LB position, but lots of fun to watch.

Completely different styles of play from the LB position, but lots of fun to watch. I went to the game in Helena MT last Fall. His injury early in the game was devastating. Hated to see his last year end that way.

August 30, 201412 yr They were denied again. The DII committee basically told Gtown to get their financial issues in order first.
