Class 3A District Alignment Projections

Featured Replies

Here is a map showing each team projected to be in Class 3A for 2015-2018 according to KHSAA enrollment figures.

I know it will probably change a little before the final alignment is done, but I thought we could try and project the districts based on what we have now.

Look at the map and see how you would group the 39 teams into 8 districts.

Here is my first blush attempt.

District 1: Tilghman, Union, Caldwell, Trigg, Ft Campbell

District 2: Edmonson, Etown, Hart Co, Larue Co

District 3: Central, Moore, Waggener, Bardstown, Thomas Nelson

District 4: Henry, Western Hills, Boyle Co, LexCath, Garrard

District 5: Casey Co, Adair Co, McCreary Co, Corbin, Bell Co

District 6: Jackson Co, Estill Co, Powell Co, Morgan Co, Breathitt Co

District 7: Pendleton Co, Fleming Co, Lewis Co, Russell, Lawrence Co

District 8: Knott Co, Magoffin Co, Sheldon Clark, Pike Central, Belfry

Note: Pendleton is on an island and they elected to play up a class last time. If they do that, then East Carter is the smallest school in 4A and would have the option to play down. East Carter would fit perfectly in District 7 in Pendleton's place.

Pendleton County did not elect to play up last time. They were placed in 4A and did not feel they belonged there. Ended up dropping out of the district after two years. They will stay 3A in my opinion.

Where did you get this map? Did you make it? Are you going to do the other classes if you did?

The only thing I could see is Adair moving to district two. If nothing more than for a couple reasons:

1) 3 of the other 4 schools are 5th region schools along with Adair.

2) Adair is already in a district with two of those schools (Edmonson and Hart).

Awesome work!!!

Harry, I almost put Adair in D2 in my draft, leaving 4 teams in D5. Wouldn't be surprised to see them end up there.

munoz, my bad on Pendleton. In the back of my mind, I thought they elected to play up last time, and then after 2 years, dropped out of the district. No matter what district you put them into, it creates a lot of travel time.

At this time I have no plan to do the other classes, this was a lot of work plotting the map. I just started with a blank county map available online and started plotting each team location. Then I tried to group them into districts, which was a challenge.

Hopefully we will see some others make an attempt, I'm sure there are better ideas out there than my draft.

Maybe you can convince the Guru to put you on the payroll for Bluegrass Preps and do one for all the classes. :lol2: It was very cool.

I posted this last year and got jumped by some people but the fact that you can sit there with a map and do it in 1 day makes it an absolute LAZY JOKE that Julian is waiting in 4 year cycles now. People who are in these enrollments will be graduated from college next time he does one.

I don't follow you. What is your complaint? Is it that 4 years is too long and they should redistrict every 2 years?

I'd love to be on the BGP payroll. I hear those guys pull in some serious cash. ;)

Double time on weekends and holidays. Great benefits: vacation, sick leave, medical, dental, vision and 401K. Half price on carpal tunnel surgery.

I don't see a scenario where Boyle and LexCath aren't placed in the West to be honest.... the East is very fluid but I like your alignment (especially if Pendleton does what they should and opt to play in a different class).

3A isnt as loaded as originally projected when most thought DeSales and CAL would be coming up... but still a very stout class when you expect teams like Bell County to return to form.

As a Belfry fan I don't like the 5 team District from a scheduling standpoint but geographically ti works. Hopefully Pike Central continues to get stronger and Sheldon Clark gets back to where they used to be.

Yes

I can promise you Pendleton County will not play up. They will be a 3A team.

Any chance you guys could take a look at each class?? I love the predictions!
