Is this for the 2015-2016 seasons and on?

 

Supposed to just be 2015-2016, then they are supposed to be "Reviewed" the final two years....but, saying and doing are two different deals when it comes to that.

Julian said it would be reviewed last time and he lied. This is a 4 year deal. It even says in the language of the moving up that you have to committ for 4 years.

Revisiting this thread now that the proposed realignment waters are a little less muddy.

 

Nobody petitioned to move up or down in a way that would affect 3A, meaning that the 39 teams we projected in the original post will be the actual 39 teams that end up in this class.

 

With that in mind, now, what is your projections as far as actual district alignment?

 

Mine is posted in Post #2. Anybody have any further ideas or comments on this class?

I think yours is spot on 2c....

 

Only things I THINK will change are the following:

 

-Adair County will go to District 2, making it a 5 team district. They are already with E-town, LaRue and Hart in the 5th Region, and already with Hart and Edmonson as is in their current district. Also, not sure if this will matter or not, but they are on the Central Time Zone. In District 5, they are about 30 minutes from Casey County (a hard 30 mile drive at that), but much, much further from the rest of the schools than they are those in District 2.

 

-Henry County to District 3. That would make for it being a 6 team district and District 4 only being a 4 team district, but geographically they are much closer to all of those teams than District 4. Being just 30 minutes up the road on I-71 from Waggener, Moore and Central I think will give them the pull enough to be placed in it. But, then again, I could see them going to District 4 just to help balance things out a bit.

 

Looks good. EKY 3A and EKY 2A are clusters. People could make reasonable arguments to slice and dice that side of the of state up in 20,000 different scenarios it seems like.

I just think that there is no way that they are in the east. Too many that need to be there before Lex Cath does.

Just looking at the geography, I think Boyle, Catholic and Garrard will all end up together. There just aren't enough neighboring teams for Lexington Catholic like there were the last time.

I literally got out a map and marked locations to best figure this out and here is my official suggestions for the alignment that makes the most sense geographically... I came up with this:

The only issues I see with the above:

 

- Casey County borders Boyle County and Adair County but is in the district with neither

- Pendleton being on an island forces a 4 team district as Morgan and Lawrence simply would be stretching too far

- The three team pod in SEKY of McCreary, Bell, and Corbin creates issues as it either has to draw a team from South Central KY like Casey County or pull teams from far EKY like Breathitt or Knott Central

- A District of Boyle, Garrard, Casey, Adair, and Jackson looks mighty enticing Geographically... as does a 4 team district of Henry, LexCath, Western Hills, and Pendleton....but being centrally located it makes it too tough to work out on the geography on both the East and West

- No offense..but District 2 would arguably one of the worst districts in the State of Kentucky regardless of class.

The biggest reason I suspect Adair County moves west is they are in central time whereas Casey is in eastern time. The KHSAA has seemingly made an effort to avoid time zone issues in the past (although obviously some cases are unavoidable).

District two has two teams in Elizabethtown and Larue County that have traditionally been pretty good. E-town has been down for a while, although they seem to be getting better. And Larue was really solid the last few years before injuries derailed last season.

I could see that going either way... one way or another Pendleton or Casey/McCreary Central could potentially get the shaft as a 4 seed. Pendleton could be looking at travelling all the way to Belfry in your scenario.... Casey/McCreary Central would probably be doing the same in mine.
