Agreed. I would hardly "compare" losing to CCH by 4 with beating an underachieving Ryle team.

I thought the officiating was very bad tonight. At one point the fouls were 7-0 in Brossart's favor in the 2nd half. It became equal when BB started fouling intentionally. Not an excuse, just an observation.

 

Good to see CCH seniors Young and Landrum stepping up at the end to hit two big shots and grab a key rebound.

 

CCH really clicking. BB will be fine they played a good game just CCH is on fire as of late.

 

 

Thank you. Fouls were 7-0 at one point which is ridiculous. This time it wasn't bad calls it was missed calls. CCH did not get to the line until the 4th quarter when BB starting intentionally fouling to stop the clock. And it was bad because most of CCH's points came off layups inside. I'm not a math teacher but probability says that at some point inside there must have been a foul on Brossart. Great game by both teams though. D. Noll is coming on big right now and playing the best ball of his career at just the right time.

I am sure coach is working to prepare for Scott!! But I am sure when we get that win, he won't be scared of you!!

You certainly can't fault the effort by Brossart tonight!! Down by 14 in the third, they cold have folded the tent; but fought back to take the lead, but couldn't hold it. I think CovCath's senior leadership and deeper bench was the difference tonight. A great game by two very good teams. BB has to start finding a way to put up some W's, and quit winning "moral victories", although their losing streak is against some pretty fine teams!!

 

As for all the Campbell gloaters, never have I seen a school four times the size of their "little neighbor", have more delight in the misfortunes of others?? If I was a fan of a 4-A school with a 9-14 record (4-10 in 2006), in my "Dynasty Dream Team's" Senior year; I don't think I'd give a second thought to some little 1-A school's (who BTW my DDT's never beaten) season; I'd be far more worried about my problems!! For your info you can spell them S-C-O-T-T!!!!

Red letters or not, I saw Coach Reitz the other day and I don't think he can post up Troy Cooper or Nathan Mutsch; nor could he beat Jimmy Uebel or Brad Seiter off the dribble--He's got a shot at Josh Kidney with his sprained ankle, in his street clothes and tie................But?? Not sure but I think he's a step slow at this level!!

I think that we are finally getting back to being healthy and better rested.

 

A lot of contributing factors have gone into our recent funk, mainly being sick. Tonight I thought that we were sharper physically and mentally and played a very competitive ballgame.

 

Josh Kidney did not play tonight and won't until next week in the distict tournament.

 

I look for this thing to come to an end at St. Henry Friday night (no offense to the Cru - but this team is just too good not to be able to compete and win from here out.) Silver Grove should roll over Calvary and the Mustangs will be rested and prepared to advance to the Distict finals on Friday night against whoever emerges from the Campbell-Scott matchup, with two wins under our belt and this setback series buried behind us.

Some thoughts:

 

Billy Schult played awesome. 10 pts and 10+ rebounds. Billy was taking it to the whole and using the glass. He may have had 15 rbs.

 

Officials were horrible. 9-1 with 5:30 left in the game and CCH hadn't shot a FT.

 

CCH's coaching staff did a great job. Especially Maile.

 

Timmy had some great passes tonight (7 assist) to go along with his 12 pts.

 

Danny Noll is really turning into one heck of a player.

 

Micheal Young and Joey Landrum hit two huge buckets for CCH.

 

I really realized tonight how nice Listerman has it. He can just keep throwing talent in for talent. At one point Cahill had 3, Young had 3, Schult had 3, Tim had 3, Noll had 3. And they didn't seem phased.

All true. Coach Maile is an awesome coach, he gets no credit. Since taking over the offense a few weeks ago, CCH has been playing great basketball. Also Schult only got to 7 rebounds, I thought he had more also. This team has 7 or 8 talented players who very well know and accept their roles and playing some really good ball right now.

Mustang, great and well deserved tribute. Even for a non-Brossart person, it was a great moment. Enjoy yourself in comfort.

 

The posters who thought this was going to be blow-out in the prediction thread still have me confused.

 

A good battle between a guard-oriented team with some improving big-men and a post-oriented team with some solid guards. Cooper and #32 (Tucker?) played well last night. #32 has a great touch at the line for a big guy. I think he was something like 8 for 8 or 7 for 8. Impressive. Seiter (sp?) had a tough night. Made a late three that closed the gap a tad, but looked off on all his shots prior to that one. #40, Cooper, and #32 are a formidable low-post rotation.

 

Why was the Air Conditioner cranked up? You could have hung a side of beef in there last night.

 

Fun atmosphere, packed house, and I love the singing of "My Old Kentucky Home" before the game. The P.A. guy did a nice job with a tough song.

 

The debate between a cheerleader's mom standing on the court before the game and Tony Roch "laying out on a beach towel" court-side was a Perfect 10 on the unintentional comedy scale.

 

When Brossart took a 47 - 46 lead late, it was Joe Landrum that was a calming influence on the court. I love the basketball IQ he demonstrated. He also hit a big shot at about the elbow. The biggest basket of the game, IMHO, was the Tierney drive and dish for a lay-up to Young to put CCH back in front to stay.

You should just be happy it was cold and not hot in there. Because when it gets hot its gets really hot and then the floor starts to get slick. That is probably why they had it so low.

I think it was a great game and fun to watch. The fans for Cov Cath. were not as many but kept us all amused. They do it with class. Cov. Cath has a very good team; moves the ball well and are very good shooters. Good Luck to them in the District and the Regionals.

The Senior Night/Parents Night/Schabell Night/ etc night was too much. Unfortunately we only played six home games this year and everything got jammed up at the last minute. I seem to remember CovCath having a similar event last year where they recognized everybody up to the parents of the underwater basket weaving class as well as making the check presentations to the Bluegrass-Buckeye recipients on the same night. Not a knock, just something that you feel obligated to do, but it seems to take forever.

 

It was cool in there last night - actually there is no AC in the gym, but we turn the thermostats down and circulate the existing air (or bring in a percentage of outside air) in order to keep the floor in playable conditon. It seems that it is either too hot - or too cold and with the anticipated full-house as Hammertime said, cool is actually the preferred option.

 

Todd Schafter does a great job and the only time we do "My Old Ky Home" is the last home game of the season. He really does a great job on the National Anthem, but last night one of the seniors (Jennifer Kaufman) did it and she does a nice job as well.

 

I thought that all of the Colonels stayed cool under fire when we made our run and Landrum got a big bucket and Jacobs seemed to answer whenever you needed a big hoop. We seem to be pressing (ourselves) just a bit right now but will work out of it.

 

Best of Luck to the Blue Colonels, I see no reason in the world why they can't/won't represent the 9th at Rupp in a couple of weeks.
