Matt Maynard was put on the team as a DB, as was Jimmy Chafin.

Why should there be a comparison between these two? Blume didn't even play D.

BTW....I've seen the backs on this team play, as I have Blume, and I have no problem with the selections.

A place shouldve been found for the leading rusher in the state thats all Im saying.

They want the best chance to win.....

* I simply can not believe that Garnett Phelps is playing and Eric Senn is not.

 This blows my mind. Be passionate about your players but PLEASE try to show some class and leave the player bashing out of it! It is not Garnett Phelps' fault he is on the team and Senn is not. In my opinion, Phelps deserves to be there. I also believe that Senn could be on the roster as well.

These lists always bring out the worst in people when all their favorite players are not included. Please remember these young men work hard for opportunities like these so try do not toss names around like this!

Sounds like a strong testament to the coaching staff and players at Russell.

Also sounds like what many teams on Russell's schedule found out this past year. You had to shut down the Russell "team" not (a/the) Russell player(s). Although Jr. Casey Clark was the MVP at the state final and an important part of this years team, there were many games during the season where many different players stepped up big time (i.e. Brown, Horn, Jones, Potter et. al).

I'll bet none of those seniors would trade a "championship ring" for a roster spot on the "all-star" team.

I wish everybody on here that has posted had the opportunity to select this all star team, then, most of them would not have so much to say. 8 players and 2 QB's are voted on by coaches. The committee selects the rest. The next 20 are easy to pick. It is the next 14 that is tough because of the close calls between so many good players. There is also an alternate selection of players for each position. There will be 3-4 not show up for some reason. Several of the players mentioned on this thread could possibly be an alternate and still be selected. For example, will Burbage be allowed to play? If not, an alternate will be selected in his place.

Any late scratches/additions?
