January 13, 201412 yr ...has won a playoff game. That's right. Tim Tebow. What does that say about the Heisman voting process?
January 13, 201412 yr What does that say about the Heisman voting process? That being the best in college does not necessarily translate to be the best in the NFL? Sometimes it does but for some reason, often times it does not. Not trying to be a smart alec but think back to many of the Heisman winners. In most cases, if those guys were not the best in college, I think they were definitely in the top 5 but for whatever reason, their skill set just did not translate to the Pro game.
January 13, 201412 yr Same as Mr. Football or Basketball, how many of those guys never even play D-1 let alone excel at it.
January 13, 201412 yr Author Same as Mr. Football or Basketball, how many of those guys never even play D-1 let alone excel at it. 25/28 Mr Footballs went on to play D1.
January 13, 201412 yr 25/28 Mr Footballs went on to play D1.So only 3 didn't go D-1 I would have thought that number was higher.
January 13, 201412 yr What does that say about the Heisman voting process? Nothing. It says the Heisman is given to the best college football player and not the player with the most pro potential.
January 13, 201412 yr Author So only 3 didn't go D-1 I would have thought that number was higher. Here's the list: Mr. Football Award (Kentucky) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
January 13, 201412 yr Author What about Vinny Testaverde? He won it in 86. I'm guessing that start starts with 87 or 88.
January 13, 201412 yr What does that say about the Heisman voting process? That it's more of a reflection of a quarterback or running back from a very successful, hyped team (or a quarterback or running back who puts up gaudy numbers for a moderately successful team) rather than the best all around player.
January 13, 201412 yr He won it in 86. I'm guessing that start starts with 87 or 88. But he won the playoff game in 94.
January 13, 201412 yr Author But he won the playoff game in 94. I think the requirement for the stat was that you won the Heisman in the last 26 years. I didn't word the title or post correctly.
