All "A" Top Teams and Players

Featured Replies

Overwhelming favorite. All A in the 1st region has never been this weak. St. Mary not winning it would be a huge upset. Most of the teams are very young and rebuilding.

Seeds are out for it:

1. St. Mary

2. Mayfield

3. Murray

4. Hickman County

5. Ballard Memorial

6. Fulton County

7. Carlisle County

8. Fulton City

9. CCA

10. CFS

I agree almost completely with this list. I would probably have put Murray at 2 before games of last couple of nights.

seeds are not always perfect but better than a blind draw.

I don't think you can really define what position Hubert plays for St Mary. He is 6'2" or 6'3" and guards the other teams bigger players often but creates from the point or the wing on offense.

Very nice. Sounds like a heck of a player. :thumb:

With Bardstown ineligible to compete it's pretty wide-open in the 5th.

Why aren't they competing?

Bardstown is now too big. They All-A shrunk their eligibility list from 128 teams to 120 teams.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that.

Well, that opens things up because Bardstown has been an All A power.

I LOVE Brossart, but I wouldn't put them ahead of Cordia.

Brossart / St. Mary's in the first round would be a lot of fun -- as RP mentioned, Burns and Trentman are a really dynamic front court. Code is, in my opinion, as good as there is in Northern KY.

Having seen both play...I would put Brossart ahead of Cordia. Mustangs' size would give Cordia some real issues.

Even if they hadn't, growth in the Bardstown School System would likely have bumped them anyway.

That makes sense. I noticed on the enrollment numbers in the football thread that Bardstown will likely be up to 3A in football the next cycle. They've certainly seen lots of recent growth.

Some great info in this thread. Thanks to all that provided it. Really looking forward to following this tourney. Best of luck to all teams, but being a homer have to pull for my 10th region teams.

Shelby Valley has a good shot at winning the 15th, and Tyler Carr is the top All "A" player from the 15th...

I would go with Hazard to win the 14th. They won the WYMT Mountain Classic this week, knocking off Jackson County, Knott Central, and Perry Central on the way to the title. They're playing good basketball right now, and as long as veteran coach Al Holland is on the sideline the Bulldogs will always be competitive. Cordia is unpredictable but if the Lions are on one of their hot nights they can be tough to deal with. They could win the region too.

The only other team I see as having any kind of chance of knocking off one of those two , but probably not both, would be Buckhorn. They are a young team but very talented, earlier beating Breathitt County by 23 points and downing Wolfe County in Campton (never an easy thing to do) by around 15 points. If the Wildcats caught Cordia or Hazard on a "down" night they could beat them. And IMO the 'Horn' has one of the best coaches in the region in John Noble.

Saw him play a lot here in NKY the last 3 years. Kid can flat out play, very underated. I have been following him in the 15th this year, you guys are in for some exciting basketball at Shelby Valley. He owned us at Simon Kenton last year averaging over 30 points per game.

What about Snapp of Newport? I really like his game and he looks to have a lot of potential? I know they will not be able to win the 9th but he is a very sweet player.
