With some of the regional All "A" tournaments underway, who are some of the top teams and players that will be competing?

 

I know I will leave several people out, but here is who I thought of:

I've seen 9 of these guys, the other 4 are on here based on what I've heard.

 

What other teams or players should we watch for?

The All A in Region 1 seems anti-climactic this year without Heath and Reidland being involved. Especially Heath as they have been a serious contender and winner for years now. St Mary is the overwhelming favorite for sure. Hubert is really good and they surround him with good shooters. Tough to beat by anyone.

Agree. NCC is a top 10 team, and the next 3 are all borderline top 25 teams regardless of class. There is a clear drop off to the next set of teams.

With Bardstown ineligible to compete it's pretty wide-open in the 5th. Likely entries are either Caverna, Fort Knox or Bethlehem.

Please don't forget about Elijah Sindelar at Caldwell County.

Why aren't they competing?

Region 14 & Region 10 are in the lower bracket, and should they advance that far, are scheduled for a second round matchup.

 

9th Region is in the upper bracket.

Apparently Region 10 plays Region 1 in first round. I really know nothing about Bishop Brossart but their record looks really good. If they do get St Mary I don't think it will be easy for them. That team has played some good teams and been very competitive. Will be tough out.

Brossart has a solid starting five & a superb 1-2 front court combination in 6'7" seniors Alex Trentman & Drew Burns. Both are top 7ish players in the 10th Region IMO. Trentman can play in the post, but can also step out & do some damage outside the paint. Burns is more of a traditional post player & is a tough assignment down low. Jake Jennings runs the point extremely well. He's not a huge scoring threat, but is an excellent distributor & defender. Just a solid point guard. Erik Rieger is a swingman who does a little bit of everything & Spencer Hackworth is the fifth starter who can knock down shots.

 

They bring a couple of guys off the bench, but I would say depth is a team weakness for the Stangs. The key to beating them is to protect the ball (don't turn it over), prevent second chance points, & get one or both bigs in foul trouble, which happens with some frequency.

 

Very smart, very well-coached, very disciplined team.

I LOVE Brossart, but I wouldn't put them ahead of Cordia.

 

Brossart / St. Mary's in the first round would be a lot of fun -- as RP mentioned, Burns and Trentman are a really dynamic front court. Code is, in my opinion, as good as there is in Northern KY.

Overwhelming favorite. All A in the 1st region has never been this weak. St. Mary not winning it would be a huge upset. Most of the teams are very young and rebuilding.

I don't think you can really define what position Hubert plays for St Mary. He is 6'2" or 6'3" and guards the other teams bigger players often but creates from the point or the wing on offense.
