A word of warning ... this is a CCH broadcast team and that will be very clear in the way they call the game. Just brace yourself if that type of game calling bothers you. I am not knocking them. It is awesome that these guys put the time and energy into doing this and their homerism isn't unique in the realm of school volunteer broadcasts. Just giving everyone planning on listening in a heads up.

You would think Cov Cath has been to as many sweet sixteens as Ballard has the way they get talked about on here.

When answering your question I KNEW your follow-up was going to be along these lines.

CCH always has a strong team. That doesn't always mean they win the region. It's hardly an indictment on the program.

You are right that Mark is a CCH guy and he roots for CCH. I have never seen the problem with that.

In the last 15 years the 9th Region has seen these 8 teams make it to Rupp showing that we're not just a one trick pony up here.

No doubt that Holmes leads the pack in recent years, but each year brings exciting regional tourneys where there's rarely been a sure thing winner until that final horn sounds during the championship game.

I'd say the 9th is toughest to get out of, too many quality teams beating up on each other. Alot of times the BEST team usually doesn't make it out. JMO

There are a few years when Holmes is the obvious best team. However, most years there's 2 to 4 that can compete for the crown which always makes it exciting.

If I can't get there until 6:45ish, should I not bother attending?

If you want to hear a guy that was born to call games, then you need to go no further than Mark Wehry. He's a natural with the perfect voice for it, and has been volunteering at his position behind the mic for 10 years now, and has a completely remarkable track record of keeping the fans on top of things.

Of course he's going to be excited for the Colonels as that's who he's calling the game for, but even still, I many times have heard him champion the talents of other players and teams, and add excitement in his call when they do something worthy of the excitement.

He paints the game perfectly, and is a fantastic contributer to keeping things exciting here in the 9th. If he ever turned over the mic for someone else to take over the duties, he would surely be missed.

Keep up the good work Mark. :thumb:

Like I said - not knocking the broadcasters. I listen to them and will be listening in tonight. I am just making sure those who haven't listened in before know there will be a very clear CCH homer slant to the broadcast.

Since you can't text feel free to call me and I'll save you a seat.

As others have said, you may just have to walk a bit. The gym can hold quite a few people. Hope you can make it!
