So no bench points from either team?

Trentman with 17 rebounds. I would have guessed 11 or 12. He & Burns play so hard at both ends of the floor.

Trent McGovney started & played a lot but didn't score for Campbell. Franzen came off the bench & did score.

No bench points for Brossart.

They have both developed nicely since their soph year.

Yes they have.

Three really good big men playing tonight with those two plus Wilson.

I'm happy we won. You never know when these two teams get together. Puts us a game up on Campbell County in the 37th District Seeding race. To steal a line from our girls coach Josh Feldmann, we weren't a one trick pony tonight. Big performances by Junior Spencer Hackworth and Erik Rieger showed that we have a little dimension to the first five if we need it. Trentman was held to two free-throws in the first half, but finished with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Drew Burns was our steady-Eddie, netting 13 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Jennings is a wizard with the ball and defending the ball. We're glad he plays for us.

Campbell has been scoring in the 70's/80's. We knew we couldn't let that happen, and was pleased that we kept them in the low 40's.

Not the prettiest game ever played in the Middle School, as neither team shot well in the first half, nor did either team value possesion of the ball. I thought that we showed superior patience, and picked apart the Camel defense. Wilson is indeed a force inside. Finished with 17 after netting only 4 in the first half. Brossart struggled from the free-throw line, going 12/25 after lighting it up in Henry County last week.

The Techno gods smiled on us and we got a good live broadcast tonight, which doesn't always happen at the Middle School.

BB: Jennings 2-0-1/5-5, Hackworth 4-3-1/2-18, Rieger 4-1-2/4-13, Trentman 3-0-5/9-11 (17 reb), Burns 5-0-3/5-13

Totals: 18-4-12/25-60 13-1

CC: Losey 1-1-0/2-5, Wilson 7-0-4/7-18, Jackson 0-1-0/0-3, Holbrook 3-1-2/2-11, J.Franzen 1-0-2/3-4

Totals: 12-3-8/14-41 7-3

Brossart hosts Holy Cross in an NKAC DivII game Tuesday night in the SyDome. Travel to Pendleton County on Thursday. Play Augusta in the opening round of the 10th Region "A" At Regents next Saturday.

Just today I was talking to someone about Brossart and said "I can't think of their 5th starter."

Turns out it's Spencer Hackworth. I won't forget that name. Congrats to Spence.

Very much agree & I think that was the major difference in the 2nd half.

:lol2:

Congratulations to the Stangs. Not many good points for the Camels tonight, except for Matt Wilson. IMO, he answered a lot of questions tonight. Yes he can play with the big boys, and the best part, he's a sophomore.

I always thought Matt was going to be slinging the pigskin at the next level. It sounds like he might want to give the round ball a little bit more love..:thumb:

....

RP, how did Jackson get limited to 3? Just off? Not being aggressive? Brossart defense on him?

Shocked by his lack of production.

He made some nice moves & got some open looks from various spots, but just couldn't get anything to fall. There was one play in particular where he drove the left side, clearly beating his man, and put up a left handed layup that just didn't go. It just wasn't falling & his body language conveyed his frustration. In the 2nd half I thought he tried to force the action way too much & that didn't help matters.

Shocked by this final margin, nice job 'Stangs.
