What happened? I think those 15 points takes his average all the way down to, what, 26-28 per game. Wow, what a travesty!

Very unfair to call out Brent Bach over a 15 point performance against a big school, quality opponent like LaFayette.

 

15 against the generals probably equates to a 30 point game against most of the 10th Region opponents they normally face.

If anything it probably demonstrates just how the Panthers depend on Bach, who doesn't have the luxury of having opponents' defenses key on several major scoring threats.

What if Bach was playing for the Generals, or Scott County, or ...................? That might be a better barometer of his "all-stater" status.

 

Coach Hinson went bear hunting when he entered his team in the Republic Bank Classic, knowing full well that he might well be undermanned against some of the tall timber playing in that tournament.

Brent and Co will get a couple of other opportunities to show their stuff in Lexington. Tomorrow vs Hazard should be more favorable.

What happened is that it's very unrealistic for one player to outscore a solid team by himself. Bach is a really nice player.

You can watch him play in person and can tell he has game. He was set up in the middle to break the press and I only recall 2 turnovers against that press. 6'8" Jackson Davis guarded him at times and you could plainly hear the Lafayette coaches screaming at their players to not give him any space and they complied. Even from the volleyball line they were on him and yet he would still evade the defense and get to the rim on multiple occasions or shake the defense for a 22 foot three pointer. Shot just wasn't falling. I think he finished 7-17 from the floor and 3 misses were layups and 3 more were threes that I can recall. The fact that he got off 3 layups to miss against that defense was an impressive feat in my eyes. Lafayette is no slouch. At all.
