Coaches are often sought out and asked to apply. Kind of "We are interested in you, are you interested in applying".

At the top schools, it's a lot more of a search than some care to admit…….

Doss names Phillip Hawkins head coach.

Good for Doss. That's a school loaded with talent and will stay in that 4A/5A range most realignments. What's Coach Hawkins background? From everything I've heard, if someone can come in and really know how to 'play the game in Jefferson County', this program could be a top the ranks in it's respected class(es) on a yearly basis. With that said, Coach Farmer (former coach) was a great guy and good coach in his own right with a couple region final appearances during his tenure.

What's his background?

I'm thinking Coach Hawkins has spent time at Frankfort and most recently Ballard.

A few year ago he handpicked and coached the Kentucky 8th grade all-state team in the FBU National Tournament. They came in 3rd place in the country. Spreads the field, like to throw down field. Fast paced offense. I seen 3 of the games. He's a good coach. Cares about his kids.

Atchley is a former assistant @ LCA. I believe he spent last year as the DC for Lafayette.

GRC position just came open on Thursday, as Coach Collins was let go after 2 seasons and only winning 3 games.

So where are we at on the Warren Central job? I just realized it is still open.

Who are possibilities on the Clark County job? I heard Shadon Brown may be interested.

Why would Shadon come back from Wofford to coach at GRC. Would not make much sense to me. I am sure Columbia is wanting it back but someone told me he was at Central office why would he be a candidate. Not a bad job but I would think Corbin, Lincoln, and Warren Central would be better job than GRC

There are many across the state who look at GRC as a potential Scott County, Henderson County and even Meade County.

 

One horse town. Athletes. 6A. The lone three one horse town, 6A schools in the state who just so happen to have Good-Great football programs.

 

Plus, the college game isn't all that it's cracked up to be...especially at the lower levels. I have no idea what Shadon's financial set up is at Wofford, but I know of others who have been at that same level within the last few years and it's not much, if any different than what most make at the HS level as a teacher/HFC. Matter of fact, depending on the number of years a guy might have into teaching, it's less at many lower collegiate level schools.
