I wish you could combine aspects.

 

-I love WKU's stadium as the venue... it is the right size for a State Finals and just nice enough. Had this weekend's games been played in Louisville with the attendance that we saw it would have looked awful in such a large venue.

 

- I love the fact you can make a full weekend out of Louisville with every member of the family. Even if wives and aunt's don't want to endure a cold game, they can get their Christmas Shopping done in Louisville. Louisville has much better options for dining out. If the older males want to take in the other weekend game sbut the young ones don't want to there are much better options in terms of museums and activities.

 

- I love the WKU setting. Very easy to navigate, easy to park, and after the game you don't have to deal with any traffic or getting lost in the wrong parts of Louisville

 

- Being someone from out of State if the Finals were in Louisville I would have attended many more since I could fly there fairly cheap and with little logistical hassle. Bowling Green is not an option... could fly to Nashville but then I still have to drive, rent a car, etc.. the though of hopping a cheap Southwest Flight and then grabbing a cheap cab ride to PJCS to watch the game would be very inviting....

Why only Louisville and BG? Why BG in the first place? NKY is the same as BG

 

No point is central for the state. But those two places offer the most central location.

Easier for me to get to BG but I used to like the Louisville Executive Inn were all the fans stayed together instead of BG were everyone is mostly spread out.

My reason for preferring Louisville is purely selfish. I live in Louisville.

 

From a game standpoint the one thing I really prefer about Bowling Green is the stadium itself. The size is much more appropriate for the HS championships then Papa John's.

 

That said there are drawbacks. First and foremost is locker room space. Western just doesn't have it. On the home side Western's locker room is shared by 2 teams (withe a curtain separating them). One team finishing their game is in there while another is preparing for their game. On the visitors side there is a very small locker room (I don't see how a college team uses this). The last several times Trinity was there they dressed before and after the game in a student activities center that was across and down the street from the stadium and used the small visitors space at half time. At Papa John's there are 4 separate locker rooms. No crossing over.

All understandable, but keep in mind this thread isn't about which venue is the best (I like WKU vs Papa Johns), it is only about location and travel.

You are making my point when you speak of Boyle County. Louisville and/or Bowling Green are no more central than the other. But with the highway system offered they are the 2 most accessible and accommodating places.

I do like WKU facilities, as far as viewing for the game (lockerrooms are another matter). Love WKU.

 

But it is about travel and that is why I think having the event always located on the western part of the state really isn't that fair to those on the eastern side like Mayfield, Harlan Co. Pikeville etc.

If you haven't gone for the whole weekend you are truly missing a great opportunity. The cost is negligible and the roads are easy to travel; Bowling Green does a great job of hosting the event.

We need to get you brushed up on your geography, Hellbird. Mayfield is in (far) West Kentucky. Bowling Green is in South Central Kentucky, despite having the name Western Kentucky University

Mayfield you are right about BG not so much. I am looking at a map of the state as we speak. You can say south central but that is being generous.

Instead of Lexington I think Georgetown would be great also. Georgetown College would be perfect to host games.
