December 8, 201312 yr Combine this with the news that Gronk tore his ACL and things seem to be setting up well for the Bengals.

December 8, 201312 yr Great win and great day by Dalton. The weapons are there and that's easy to see when Dalton can hit open receivers like today. Very impressive! Huge win! The Bengals are one win and a ravens loss away from locking up the division. I will feel more relaxed when that happens.

Moving Whit to G was key.
December 9, 201312 yr It was nice to see the Bengals bury what is considered to be a contender. Huge win which would have been even bigger if the Browns and Vikes would have pulled the upsets.
December 9, 201312 yr Big difference in the offense is the emergence of the running game. Moving Whit to G was key. Which is one of the first things me and Hellbird agreed on at the beginning of the year, we both said Whit should be moved to guard and have Collins at tackle. The running game was good again, and as I said when a guy was open Dalton actually hit them. Not to mention he actually was not staring down targets, and was reading a defense today and spreading the ball around. He is so frustrating because he can have games like this, and when he plays more consistent this offense can be very good! Very impressive today!
December 9, 201312 yr Anyone know the rule on the TD? The ref admitted after the game they only looked to see if BJGE was touched at the goal line which he wasn't so they called it a score. It looked like if he was touched it was far earlier. Here is my question though if they were calling him down by contact but they were calling the contact at the goal line wasn't reversing it the right call? If they didn't call the original contact the reason he was down they got it right on replay right?

Here is my question though if they were calling him down by contact but they were calling the contact at the goal line wasn't reversing it the right call? If they didn't call the original contact the reason he was down they got it right on replay right? Well, yes and no. IF they though he was contacted AFTER he fell (while sliding) and before he crossed the goal line, then, yes...they corrected that call. But, I believe my understanding is that the entire play is under review, not just a specific aspect of it. (Or maybe I'm confusing that with the college rule). But, if that is the case, then they should be able to go back and look for contact that caused BJGE to ultimately fall in the first place. And while I understood what the announcers were saying (why else would he have fallen at that time?), I don't know that there was a clear camera shot that showed the defender's hand touching BJGE's foot. So, in their mind, there may not be indisputable video evidence to "make" the down-by-contact call earlier in the play, simply from replay. The best person to ask is Clyde. I usually trust his interpretation of the rules.
December 9, 201312 yr ^The only issue was they called him down on the field. If that's the case, and there's not indisputable evidence either way, they can't change the call. The way I understood the ref's explanation was that they said he was contacted right before the goal line. That's why when they looked at it they only reviewed that portion.

Yeah that's kind of what I'm asking. They are saying they called him down by contact at the goal line. They didn't call him down by contact from the only guy that may have actually touched him according to what they said. Pretty confusing but they know what they called and what they were looking for I guess so theoretically they may have been right to overturn it.

I was at the game and after all the replays me and a buddy thought there was no way they would overturn it. I believe the whole crowd was shocked when they overturned it. However I am not complaining because the Bengals sure have had their fair share of questionable rulings on replays go against them through the years.
