I told him they would win by 15+...:lol2: I knew it would not be that close. This MoCo team is for real. Could be better than last years team. I will look and see if I can find some stats.

MT. STERLING — A pair of convincing wins over 16th Region contenders lifted Ashland’s stock significantly in the season’s first week.

 

The Tomcats head into the second week firmly grounded, thanks to 10th Region favorite Montgomery County.

 

The Indians, who advanced to the state tournament semifinals a year ago, picked up where they left off by handing Ashland a 95-60 thrashing in the final game of the first Bart Rison Classic on Saturday.

 

Ashland (2-1) was coming off an 81-59 demolition of district rival Boyd County on Friday. Playing a second game in two days seemed to take its toll as Montgomery County outscored the Tomcats 51-25 in the second half.

Wallace is an outstanding player and MoCo is very good. If there are 10 teams better then it should be one outstanding state tournament.

Best player in the region if you ask me.

Montgomery is very, very good and Bryan is an excellent player and an even better young man. My son Brent had the great pleasure of playing with Bryan and Darious this Summer on the Hoop Dreams team. They appear to be the best team in the 10th at this early juncture.

Congratulations to Coach Holland. I had the privilege of watching him at Henry Co and Oldham Co. His teams always played hard for him. Glad to see he started the year off right at Montgomery Co. Best of luck to him in the future!

Coach Hollands teams usually get better too. This team might be special come March!
