Ballard scoring: Perry 19, Martin 11 & 7rbs, Dow 11, Robinson 9 & 6, Snider 6 Kovacevic 6, Douglas 5 & 6, Ramsey 4, Wilson 4

Ballard must be really really good if Martin and Snider are considered as 2 of the top 3 players in the state this year, they combine for 17 points and Ballard still beats Holmes. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Renner is loaded to beat the band.

Holmes shot 35 FT Ballard shot 15.

Those are the stats I tweeted earlier.

Ballard played better today and has more talent but I'm not sure they were the better team TODAY.

Holmes 3-25 from outside and 15-35 from the ft line. I'd bet my yearly salary you don't see them shoot that bad again this year.

Key for Ballard was their pressure and intensity in the 2nd half. Holmes really struggled against their press and dug a 9 pt hole 3 mins in to the 2nd half.

That and Jalen Perry was REALLY GOOD. Scored at all three levels, finished above therim, and had a lot of deflections defensively.

Play of the game came when Dow tried to dunk and McClendon pinned him against the backboard. Very next n possession, Bolden did the same thing to Snider. Mcclendon and Bolden were grear against Quentin tonight. Forced him to get his teammates involve d, which Q did a great job with.

Overall, high level game between two top 5 teams.

I was pleased with the mins soph Ian Brolley gave. Big time competition and he stepped right in and knocked down a 3 and handled the ball well while Bolden was on the bench.

Re: 35 to 15 free-throw advantage: As I recall, Holmes shot 30 free throws to NewCath's 11 in the first-round 9th Region tourney win this past spring. So this is a continuation of the same pattern.

Holmes 20-34 Fg 58% 3-25 3pt 12% 15-35 ft 42%.

Folks have been saying all summer and preseason that this would be an issue for the Bulldogs.

Bingo.

I just don't see them as being as good as shooting team as last year. They have no Coston and Palmer. Those guys could light it up.

Simple. Holmes attacks the rim and draws a lot of fouls. Chames strength makes him tough to handle inside. He drew a lot of fouls today. Holmes quickness off the dribble will also draw a lot of fouls because of teams trying to defend with their hands instead of moving their feet.

They will be streaky this year. I'll be surprised if they have another 3-25 game. Bolden himself was 1-9.

Ballard did do a great job defending the high ball screen though. Bolden didn't get too many open looks from outside.
