I thought Anderson pretty much had most peoples top spot? But I won't argue, let someone else have the target on their back. And from what I was told the way they played Saturday didn't equate to a #1 ranking, that from a parent of a player.

Anderson County will be fine. They have a dynamic 1-2 scoring punch in Makenzie Cann and Eriel McKee. They will have to adjust to not having the big girl (Kali Whiteside) in the middle. They have a good supporting cast but will need to have someone step up as a dependable consistent scorer outside of Cann and McKee. Saturday they ran into a Bullitt East team clicking on all cylinders. Fr. Lindsey Duvall was as good as advertised, Taylor Blain was knocking down the perimeter threes, and Emily Fryman flawlessly ran the offense. Courtney Pfister stepped out to hit perimeter shots and Fr. Alyssa Peak is a quick guard that performed well. Bullitt East has a good mix of freshmen and veterans. This was, after all a pre-season scrimmage and Anderson County learned a lot and will be very good and Coach Chris Stallings had to be happy with Bullitt East's performance.

Put Anderson #1 and move everyone down a slot and it don't look to bad.

On at least on other thread it seems that some NKY folks believe that Simon Kenton just might head to Diddle in place of the Lady Bearcats. AC is a well-known quantity, but how good is SK, and can they pull it off?

Scott County could be a "sleeper" this year. Last year Coach Helton's team was a regular M.A.S.H. unit with a tremendous amount of serious injuries. Tereka Guyn is a big time rebounder and very athletic. Audriana Christopher should be back from her season ending injury and they could have the girls to execute Coach Helton's defense.

Marion County goes from 39-0 and basically untested in their State Championship run, to unranked. What a difference a year makes.

They will be good and a threat to Anderson winning the 8th region. It's a two horse race and if SK nipped them at the wire it would not be any kind of huge upset. With that said, Anderson is still the favorite.

I think maybe move Anderson down one spot and Eastern up one. I know the state paper had them at one, but not sold on them being in top 3. Dont sleep on Simon Kenton, Anderson may not even be best in the 8th.

Agreed. SK will start at least 4 Seniors with more coming off the bench, they have a ton of experience playing together, they are fast, they are deep and they play very good and physical defense.

Regardless of what happened against a very good Bullitt East team in a scrimmage, Anderson is the best in the 8th. SK will definitely challenge them, and quite possibly win the 8th Region. But, it is shortsighted at best to think that Anderson doesn't have the most talent. Coach Kays and his kids have been through he battles and wars together, last years 8th Region final being an example.

New "emphasis" on hands could really put a damper on their D, they will have to adjust.

I'll believe the "emphasis" when I see it. So far, I have seen nothing in scrimmages that would make me believe things will be any different. Just more of the same stuff...girls holding with forearms and hands and "riding" the ball handler. Your right though...if the emphasis really happens, it will damper their D some...I guess like everyone else.

I completely agree. Nothing has changed. I even talked with an official from the 8th that said after their meeting a week or so ago that 2 hands was automatic foul but unless they impede their progress with one then they weren't going to call anything. So what does that change? They usually don't let girls play too rough, if they were really emphasizing the hands then the boys games would end up playing the entire bench because they would be in so much foul trouble. I have seen some rough games already this year, if they were really going to start enforcing they would have started in the pre-season.
