He is going to be a problem for teams this year. He is physically bigger and stronger and his athleticism has improved.

Not sure, but they have obviously lost a lot, afraid it is going to be a bit of a down year for HC this year.

Simon Kenton will actually play at HC a week from today December 2nd (not 3rd). HC Internet Radio will be on the air to cover this game as well.

Just want to make sure I got this right. In the statewide poll, coaches throughout the state picked Holmes No. 5 in state, with NewCath 12th. But in a poll of 9th Region coaches only, NewCath was ranked first in region and Holmes second. Is that right? Sounds fair to me. At this stage, who knows how good the supporting cast will be for Holmes.

Good list and rank them how you want but this region is WIDE open and arguments can/will be made for many but personally I think there could be a sleeper is not getting talked about too much that could emerge. Until someone TAKES the title from the Bulldogs they should be the favorite. They have the best player, or next best player if you include a healthy BH, in the region and he has a strong supporting cast to go with him. I just think this is not as cut and dry as one might think and several teams may be there at BOK in the end.

In some ways I agree with you that it is more open than recent years, but in others, I think is somewhat business as usual. If everyone who follows the 9th predicted their eight 9th Region teams that will advance to BOK, how many would pick these eight:

 

33rd: Boone Co. and Cooper

34th: Dixie and St. Henry

35th: Holmes and CovCath

36th: NewCath and Highlands

 

You could have a debate in the 33rd about Conner or Ryle surprising one of the two I listed, and you could argue, I guess, Newport could grab Highlands, but all in all, "most" would predict those same 8. In that case, how open is it really?

Boone has lost a few players that would have added depth to this year's team...will be interesting to see if Conner or even St. Henry can surpass them in the rankings as the season progresses.

 

St Henry will surprise some people. I really like what I saw from them Saturday with Kunstek and Noble in the front court and guards Jake Plummer and Nick Rechtin. Remember the name Paul Wallenhorst...sophomore can fill it up and could be a major contributor as he gets more experience throughout the season..
