Graham out as Coach at Lexington Christian Academy (LCA)

Graham out as football coach at LCA | High School Sports | Kentucky.com

"Lexington Christian Academy’s injury riddled football team went 1-10 this season, and it wound up costing Ray Graham his job as coach.

“They terminated my services,” Graham said. “It was a big shock to me. I’d been told all year we were doing a real good job considering all the adversity we went through."

LCA has struggled since going to 2A. Like Madison Central, LCA came into the season with a thin roster and also like Madison Central was hit with the injury bug. But it seems that does not matter in either case.

This and the MC situation beg the question - are high schools starting to act like colleges when it comes to coaching changes? One or two rough seasons and your out?

If high schools wanna act like colleges, then they better start paying like them. 7-10K and win no matter what is bad math! Pay him 100K like they do in some programs in the south and now you have something to hang over them! Until then, be happy that there are still men that WANT to do a job that not many have the stomach for, and to do it for little to nothing financially!

BGC, do you have a name list that might apply for this job?

Not sure. The LCA middle school team won its division of the KYMSFA State Championships. It would not surprise me to see an 'in house' hire.

Also another example of a coach getting fired for the job that "isn't as important as teaching" blah blah, blow it out your butt spill.

(Those wanting to give the tenure reasoning, save it; tenure in the classroom means nothing these days).

I'm hearing the name Jeff Burton as a possible replacement. I believe he is currently on the LCA coaching staff.

Jeff Burton was linebacker coach on the 09 championship team, Middle School state championship coach this year while still linebacker coach at the high school. Long time there, knows the place and knows how to win. VERY different coach and personality from Ray Graham.

With every post, I find myself liking Dark Horse 78 and Harry Doyle more and more. :thumb:

So why did you list Fairview? Zing, vacate joke!

He also played at Mercer County under Larry French and Chuck Smith and played under Rex Ryan at Morehead State.

His son is also a pretty dang good QB that will be a Frosh next year.

More incentive to offer him the job.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was offered the job. He has coached that group for 2 or 3 years and they already look like a Frosh team now. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if he takes over for the 4 years his son will be there
