Congratulations to Coach Browning and Nate McCoy! Very well deserved!

Congrats to the SK guys- Brennan Kuntz and Jeff Marksberry.

Hate to see that Boo Washington was not coach of the year. He did a great job at Paris this season.not sure what Steve Fromeyer did better than him.

 

You and I both know that the best coach doesn't always get the award. You tick off another coach in the district and he won't vote for you, or even intentionally vote for another coach so you don't get it. Not saying that's what happened, but it does!

I'm pretty sure if your school doesn't pay your dues then you are ineligible for the awards.

It's a subjective award so W/L alone is not how the award is determined. Therefore, the improvement fo Dixie is as much a possible consideration as is the W/L for SK.

Mitchell Cody for 1A Ludlow is a mistake. There is no way he gets it over Tyler Ackerson of Bellevue.

I saw that and have seen similar things in the past also and think it's a way to honor a player that has been just as important to a team as another big award winner such as Mr Football etc.

 

Scott Daniel was the 6A Player of the Year over James Quick last year, but Quick won Mr. Football.

 

Probably similar thoughts for Hayes/Fant.

Then we have a glaring mistake.

 

I'd have a hard time not giving the 6AD6 coach's award to Dixie's Dave Brossart. Marksberry has done a remarkable job at SK this year. He took a 9-3 team to 12-0. Brossart took at 3-8 team to 8-4. Last year's team gave up 35 points per game while this year's team only gave up 13 per game, and that's with all the same kids (maybe 2 different from last year). He really got the kids to buy into his philosophy.
