AD Dennis Lampley was the big guy in the search. The first time the job was offerred to Coach Beatty, he turned it down because his daughter was entering her senior year of high school. The job was given to Coach Kevin Wright (also an excellent choice and the current coach at Carmel in Indianapolis). For family reasons, Coach Wright had to leave after one year. At the time, Coach Beatty was thinking of leaving coaching because he didn't feel the administration at his school was as serious about football as he was. Coach Lampley called and it has worked out well for everyone involved.

Yes, that's the same Coach lampley. He was head coach at T for the '78 & '79 seasons & resigned but stayed on as a teacher. Roger Gruneisen took over & coached from '80-'84 & resigned. Coach Lampley was re-hired & stayed on through the '94 season. Chuck servino took over in '95 & resigned after the '98 season. Kevin Wright was hired for the '99 season but lasted only 1yr before resigning to move back home to Indy for personal / family reasons. Coach Beatty has been at T ever since & has taken an already strong program to unprecedented heights. Here's hoping he coaches for many years to come, GO ROCKS!!!

A few years ago I went to a Thanksgiving morning practice. During a water break I noticed that the team was laughing and joking, the assistant coaches were chatting and coach Beatty was standing off to the side looking like a volcano that was barely contained. As soon as the break ended they were all back at it with the focus and attention that he demands. When practice ended there were a lot of small kids that went out on the field. Coach Beatty was laughing and talking to those kids and others that were there as if he didn't have a worry in the world. I don't think anyone can appreciate the intensity and focus he demands from himself and all those around him without seeing it in person. I think you saw the results on Friday. Win or lose, I expect to see that same focus from the team the rest of the way.

This past Friday night was at a crazy level.......he was laser focused and intense...he stepped it way up.

I mean no disrespect to Butler but I cannot see them beating SK, respectable game, probably but beating SK, that would be hard to do.
