It may help and give some time to fix a few things. But I can hardly blame Reid for taking a look at that proposal and seeing it as a way for Republicans to shift the fight over the ACA into the heart of next year's election season.

Give it time to work instead of shoving it down our throats and maybe allow the Pres to actually keep a promise he makes.

Sounds like people trying to save their backsides by throwing the chief under the bus. Whatever.

 

Also sounds like some pretty big talk from some people who didn't read the bill before they voted for it.

 

Agreed, it needs a fix. But again the Republican plans for delay and repeal were hardly workable for the Democrats that voted for this thing in the first place and in the end, any Republican plan is probably still not one they can afford to support without pulling the rug right out from under their own bill.

Wont happen that way. Dems will blame Reps for not helping fix the problem and when the Reps do help from pressure of media, the Dems will take all the credit.

Even though they were the minority in both houses and the bill passed without a single Republican vote it was their duty to expose the flaws and educate the people on the pitfalls. Some did try, but overall there was never an organized attempt to bring focus on the pitfalls and get the overall public sensitized to the issues to generate popular resistance to some of these pitfalls.

 

The Republicans, as a whole, get no pass due to their lack of well organized action in 2009. Now they are caught with the problem of helping with this debacle or sitting back and letting it fail, while millions lose their insurance or have their rates skyrocket. Maybe Congress, overall, deserves their 11% approval rating. It seems all of Congress is in their bunkers as the disaster unfolds.

I think Obama was more the exception to the rule though. Obama just has a persona that caputured people's attention. The speech he gave at the 2004 Dem Convention put the spot light on him more than it did Kerry so he was already the "Golden Boy", similar to how Reagan was in the 1964 Republican Convention. I don't see the Dem's having another Golden Boy/Girl who could bump Hillary to the side again. And the fact that he really had no history for opponents to attack in some ways helped him. Along with this, the fact that Hillary was "skipped over" in some ways makes it appear to many that it is now "her turn". I don't know, I may be wrong and I hope I am.
