jericho Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Now that Bill Clinton has thrown Obama under the bus for breaking promises and Sen Feinstein proposing a bill that will let people keep their health carrier they always had. Should the Rep Party help fix this and agree with the new changes in the law. Reason I ask is during the Gov shutdown the Dems and Harry Reid wanted nothing to do with changing or delaying the mandate. Now the Dems seem scared they are sinking in approval ratings and it's because of this great health care. Seems like Pelosi was right when she said that you have to pass the law to see what was in it, I bet they wish they had known before hand. But should the Rep help, I say HELL NO, let the Dems eat their words since they wouldn't do it in the first place. Let Harry Reid, Obama, and Pelosi sink them all.
Jumper_Dad Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 No, got to put political crap aside and get this fixed...it is going to crush middle America if they don't!!! GOP can then say, look they pushed a broken bogus piece of legislation through that we opposed because it was wrong for the American people. We are more than happy to help the Democrats fix this mess, It's what's right for Americans.

People it is also hurting voted for these fools that pushed it. As old saying goes, take your medicine, or you got what you asked for.

jericho Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 But a LOT of people DIDN'T vote these fools in and were going to suffer right along with the ones that did. Maybe they will learn from their mistake and vote republican next time. Let them go with what they got, which is ObamaCare. Poor Dems now want help to change the law, freaking amazing, we just heard how there was no way from Harry Reid during shutdown.

As old saying goes, take your medicine, or you got what you asked for. Republicans didn't want to change it. They wanted to eliminate it. Neither side has been open and willing enough to get off of the all or nothing argument. There are many problems with the law, it's obvious. There is also too much good to completely do away with it. BOTH sides need to get together and hammer out a more coherent solution.
Voice of Reason Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I think Republicans want it to fail. Why would they consider fixing any problems?
Jumper_Dad Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 As I said in an other thread, whenever there is legislation that is as divisive as the ACA is all you need to do is follow the money. Lobbying by Industry: Pharmaceuticals/Health Products $2,736,536,143 Insurance $1,917,937,669 Electric Utilities $1,798,769,183 Business Associations $1,566,710,966 Computers/Internet $1,500,422,588 Oil & Gas $1,473,325,316 Misc Manufacturing & Distributing $1,253,512,679 Education $1,249,411,486 Hospitals/Nursing Homes $1,161,400,581 TV/Movies/Music $1,137,803,605 Securities & Investment $1,091,004,285 Civil Servants/Public Officials $1,089,990,427 Real Estate $1,061,515,651 Health Professionals $1,033,651,263 Air Transport $975,803,645 Misc Issues $834,389,251 Automotive $791,736,213 Telephone Utilities $760,260,329 Telecom Services & Equipment $755,669,991 Health Services/HMOs $715,824,792 This bill has been bought and paid for.
Getslow Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 This bill has been bought and paid for. No doubt. And the guys getting paid are exactly the cause for the ACA's biggest flaw: a lack of price/cost-controlling measures.
jericho Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 No doubt. And the guys getting paid are exactly the cause for the ACA's biggest flaw: a lack of price/cost-controlling measures. And I agree 100% with what you said.
jericho Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 The Republicans tried to help fix the problem and even give the Dems more time to fix it. The first continuing resolution would have permanently defunded the president’s broken health care law. The second would have delayed it for a year, while the third would have delayed just the individual mandate and included a version of the Vitter Amendment (named for Sen. David Vitter) which subjects Congress to the same ObamaCare costs and restrictions as the rest of America. All three were rejected by an obstinate Democrat-controlled Senate, unwilling to move forward unless Harry Reid gets everything he wants. So instead of pursuing defunding ObamaCare, House Republicans offered to simply delay it the wildly unpopular individual mandate. According to my scoreboard, that puts the count at three Republican compromise solutions to the Democrats’ zero Harry Reid is holding our government hostage | Fox News
jericho Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 OMG I got a like on the politics board. I am taking myself out to eat. I am going to try to stop going over the top on things. But I do feel the Dems should sink with ObamaCare, even if it does hurt families. In the next big elections it will play like this. Dems try to fix ObamaCare and Reps help becasue they care Dems get credit for it even though Reps tried earlier and warned everyone Dems look like the good guys Hillary wins 2016 POTUS

It was simply putting it off so that we could play out the same battle a year later while Congressional elections were going on. Extremely favorable result for Republicans. If a Republican came up with a genuine solution to fix the problems within the law and without repealing it's most basic provisions, it would be worthy of consideration. But most Republicans seem to view the ACA as a failed piece of legislation in all forms. That being the case, I simply don't believe delay is any form of compromise.
