True but it's half the number of football and if football went back to three or four divisions, then I wouldn't complaining. Six is just far too many in Kentucky.

I'm with you 100%.

Talking this morning with a buddy. 2A Brossart, who did not make the playoffs, had more wins than 2 NKY playoff teams combined. Holy Cross 1-10 (beat Brossart for their only win) and Boone 0-11. Really? 1-21 combined for these 2 playoff teams? WAY Too many classes.

Considering there's something like 10-11 private schools, I'm gonna roll with worse.

 

There should be four classes. It wasn't broke. My assumption has always been they expanded because people didn't like seeing the exact same teams win every year and thought it would give a chance to other teams to break through. And it has in 1-2 classes. The other 4, well, they just narrowed the teams that are upset.

Worse. Separating the private schools is worse than 6 classes and it isn't close IMO.

If there were the proper amount of classes, that particular one wouldn't be a problem. And of course I still feel like those teams don't necessarily belong in the same district anyway, which would also eliminate the problem.

 

Obviously Manual belongs, but they are the exception to the rule. I think 2 four seeds won last week, and both were in 6A. 11 three seeds won, and five of those were in 6A.

There are 12 private schools that play football in Kentucky. The spread in classes of these 12 is as follows:

 

1A - 2 (Holy Cross Louisville, KCD)

2A - 6 (OCath, CAL, NCC, LexChristian, Desales, Holy Cross Covington)

4A - 2 (CovCath, LexCath)

6A - 2 (X, T)

Why? you are one who thinks they shouldn't be inthe playoffs. Now you want to make exceptions? Brillant.

You could argue that 4 classes with everyone making the playoffs will create bigger first round blowouts than 6 classes has.

I don't think anyone has said 4 classes and everyone makes the playoffs. I think the reason some want 4 classes is so they can go to only 4 per district makes playoffs which would only be somewhere aaround 50% of the teams instead of the number that make it now.

I just get tired of hearing the whining. Never heard so much whining every single year on the same subject yet the ones who whine and think too many teams get in are the same ones that never say a wword about Baseball and basketball etc. and anyone who tries to claim it's different are wrong. Every team makes it period in the other sports and there are blowouts in those also. There will be bloowouts in every single week in the football playoffs including state chanmpionship games. The whining gets very old and makes zero sense.

Honestly don't see the big deal. If your team stinks, you get one final shot at glory. If your team is good, the JV plays the second half and it's a running clock early. As long as a starter doesn't get dinged up because your coach is crazy (hello Jim Matney), no big deal.

I agree. I have also heard about kids playing who don't want to play. Guess what, that doesn't just taake place in the playoffs for some. that takes place in week 2 of the season with some. If you don't want to play then don't play. If you as an adult don't want to watch a game because it may be a blowout then don't go. The world doesn't stop spinning because Football playoff games are taking place. I kind of wish those who whine every year would just hibernate for the next 5 weeks and come out once basketball is in full swing.
