There are 12 private schools that play football in Kentucky. The spread in classes of these 12 is as follows:

 

1A - 2 (Holy Cross Louisville, KCD)

2A - 6 (OCath, CAL, NCC, LexChristian, Desales, Holy Cross Covington)

4A - 2 (CovCath, LexCath)

6A - 2 (X, T)

 

Anyone stating that there should be a separate class or classes is dreaming, or very ill-informed.

Tooooooo many Classes. Six state champs generated from 30 - 40 teams per class is tough for me to support.

 

Heck, the All "A" Tournaments invite over 100 teams. Relatively speaking, winning those tournaments is a better accomplishment than the current State Football Championships ... it shouldn't be that way.

Honestly don't see the big deal. If your team stinks, you get one final shot at glory. If your team is good, the JV plays the second half and it's a running clock early. As long as a starter doesn't get dinged up because your coach is crazy (hello Jim Matney), no big deal.

 

I think the District winner should be rewarded in some way ( a BYE followed by a Home game) and in the current set-up that is not happening. Three teams advancing will make the District games during the season more meaningful. The first place team gets a Bye then Home game. The Second place team gets to host a first round game against the Third place team. Yes, the fourth place team in a district would join the 5th (or 6th) place teams in some districts and not make the playoffs but I think winning the District should have a reward.

Years from now if someone is seen wearing a state football ring and a All A tourney ring I think most people could care less about the all A tourney ring.

The first round practically already is a bye for most of the district winners. That seems needlessly convoluted.

I don't think anyone has said 4 classes and everyone makes the playoffs. I think the reason some want 4 classes is so they can go to only 4 per district makes playoffs which would only be somewhere aaround 50% of the teams instead of the number that make it now.

I just get tired of hearing the whining. Never heard so much whining every single year on the same subject yet the ones who whine and think too many teams get in are the same ones that never say a wword about Baseball and basketball etc. and anyone who tries to claim it's different are wrong. Every team makes it period in the other sports and there are blowouts in those also. There will be bloowouts in every single week in the football playoffs including state chanmpionship games. The whining gets very old and makes zero sense.

First of all, if 30 years from now anyone is still wearing a state championship ring around anyplace but a reunion or similar function, well I guess we'd all know where they peaked in life.

 

That aside, do the math here for me. How does winning a tournament with as few as 32 teams of similar enrollment participating somehow mean more than winning a tournament with more than 100 teams of similar enrollment participating?

For me, it has nothing to do with titles. It is about teams getting to play in the post season playoffs/tournaments. I don't want the postseason to be an exclusive, select type of tournament. I want as many kids as possible to experience being in that win or go home post season game.

 

Then would you be an advocate for shortening the regular season by a week and letting all the teams in the playoffs?
