I am a Beechwood grad and I never said I wouldn't wear it. What I said is a Football ring would mean more to me.

 

Now if you ask what would mean more a football state title ring or a Basketball state title ring, well that would depend on which one I had more of a passion for. If I was a benchwarmer on a basketball state title team but was a starter for a football state title team then I'd say football or vice versa if roles were reversed etc.

Nope not at all. Football is totally different than other sports and is why you need to have different classes for them. If people don't understand that then this debate is over their heads.

First of all, if 30 years from now anyone is still wearing a state championship ring around anyplace but a reunion or similar function, well I guess we'd all know where they peaked in life.

 

That aside, do the math here for me. How does winning a tournament with as few as 32 teams of similar enrollment participating somehow mean more than winning a tournament with more than 100 teams of similar enrollment participating?

What would you rather have a Super Bowl ring where only 32 teams have a shot at winning or a BCS Championship ring where over 100 teams vie for?

I've never strayed. The issue is how many teams are in the playoffs. I have no beef with 4 teams per district getting in but would not have a problem with 3 getting in either. The problem I would have is only 2 teams in.

the problem isn't how the playoffs are set up, it's with how the districts across the state are so unequal which makes it very uneven throughout the state when it comes to district teams etc. Why some districts for example only have 3 teams while others have 6 is ridiculous.

Like I said, I have no problem if they made it 3 instead of 4.

 

I just don't like only letting 2 in. Yes there are blowouts in round 1, but the exact same thing happens in every round including the state title games.

 

Now if it was always that no 4 seed ever advanced past round 1 then I'd say you have a point. But the fact that 3 and 4 seeds advance all the time every year then we'll just have to live with blowouts because remember, sometimes it's 4 seeds and 3 seeds blowing out 1 and 2 seeds in the first round. Not all the time but it happens.

 

I just don't understand why so many get in an uproar every year about this. It really isn't a big deal. the world doesn't stop because there are blowouts in playoffs. I just don't get it. So some people don't like blowouts, my suggestion is don't go to the games then. Catch a movie, have a date night. I'd hate for a Football game to ruin someones weekend.

Not like 6A or 1A at all.

IT's like 100+ teams (All A Tourney) vs 32 Teams (Super Bowl)

 

All A tourney isn't the ultimate goal if you play basketball, yet Super Bowl is the ultimate goal if you play football.

Football is a sport of attrition. That is why there are different classes in High School Football.

 

If it made no difference between a 6A school and a 1A school in football there wouldn't be any classes. That would be like in College having DIII teams and DI teams all competing for the same title. If i had a 1A state football title ring, I would be as proud of it as if it were a 6A title ring. The only difference int he two are the size of the schools. Both are state championship rings. Both mean the same.

Many people from large schools don't seem to understand this.

The only thing that irritates me about the big school vs. little school debate is when players build up enormous stats and people think they are the next coming....but if they played at a big school, wouldn't be able to get those #'s.

There isn't a problem with the All A championship, I never said there was a problem with it.

 

But if you are comparing basketball to football, there is a huge difference. As I already stated Football is more of a sport of attrition than any other sport. Huge difference. Also, last I checked there weren't 100 players on the sidelines in basketball.

 

As far as the cross country one, I have no idea. That one seems kind of silly to me. I don't follow cross country so I didn't even know there were 3 classes in that until this week.
