Actually, I was in central Ohio today speaking with a bunch of football fans. They asked how Raceland did in the first round of the playoffs. I told them Raceland won 62-14. This spurred a conversation about Ohio playoffs versus Kentucky playoffs. They did, in fact, laugh at Kentucky's playoff format.

Guys are work with are heated over the Ohio playoffs. Their team New Richmond was 9-1 and didn't make the playoffs.

That right there is worse than anything that has ever happened in Kentucky playoffs. And it has happened a lot in Ohio. I don't have to think for one second to know I would choose Kentucky's system over Ohio's.

I agree so if anyone from Ohio laughs at KY playoffs it must be a laugh of pure jealousy.

 

Ohio playoffs are a joke. When a point system is used instead of a tea record then why bother playing when a team with 1 loss is excluded. Oh but wait, people over here also want to exclude 1 loss teams from the playoffs.

 

That is a joke. Thank you KHSAA for at least getting that right. Ohio hasn't a clue. To care what those idiots think about our playoff system is a waste of time.

I look at the score, and the stats and wonder how anybody can make this about the refs?

 

Boone County is 1-21 the last two seasons combined. I understand they've had some adversity, but at 1-21, the last thing I'm doing is blaming a ref.

I don't think anyone was "blaming" the refs. Obviously that wouldn't have made a difference. However, it was a poorly officiated game. NKY has the best refs in the state and people develop an expectation of quality officiating that isn't necisairly the standard across the rest of the commonwealth.

I haven't researched why New Richmond didn't make the playoffs (nor do I care), but I know they knew what they needed to do to make the playoffs before the season and they scheduled Grant County. If you are trying to earn points in the Ohio system Grant County would not be considered the "Harbin Cow" and I might go as far as to say anyone with playoff ambitions or interest in their seeding would not schedule them. I have said on here numerous times that good teams don't always seek out good teams to play but weak teams without exception always find their weak brothers. By playing Grant it might lead me to believe that a decision was made by the school to frame their season not in terms of post season success but regular season success (think Pendleton County with a better end result). Just conjecture because i dont know. Maybe just maybe the Ohio system worked to perfection in this instance. Keeping out a team that didn't belong and allowing New Richmond to feel a measure of success against similar competition.

After one season of a new coach at Boone Co. what are some positives with the staff/team? What are some areas of focus?

So whether people from Ohio are or aren't laughing at us should for one second matter why?

MC has some good football players on their roster.

This is why Ohio laughs at KY's playoff system. I feel for the Rebel players and fans. Nobody wants ti Drive almost 5 hrs each way to get their fanny whipped. Best if luck next season.

Then they must have a real issue with IN. When the KY playoff system is made fun of it's pretty clear how little people know of other states systems.

 

As far as Boone goes the HC didn't forget how to coach. With an offseason and some groundwork put down next year should be interesting.
