I figured rising healthcare was normal with or without Obamacare. Am I wrong?

Nope..Mine raises every year..

Heard on radio that the 'identity verification' goes against the major credit databases. But that 40-60% of the people who are 27 to 34 (those that will pay for this) are not in that database. It then goes to an ill-defined 'manual method' of ID verification.

This sounds like a major flaw (OK, just one of...).

Goes through the SS database as well.

Cadillac Plan = RockMom's = Big business exclusion until next year. Small business and healthy young individuals feel the pain this year. I want changes. I want coverage available to everyone. I want catastrophic coverage. I want insurance across state lines and people able to group together for better rates. I want preventative care, It is cheaper. I do not want my country going broke trying to be everything to everyone. This is about insurance , not health care.

The thing is, I don't work for a "big business". The company I own is a privately held, family owned company. Yes, it's global, but it's by some definitions, a "small business". And to top THAT, this company is a medical device manufacturer...that's right...an industry that now has a tax to help fund the ACA. Yes, they lobbied publicly, testified before Congress, went on talk shows...to stop that tax. But, as we all know, the tax stayed in the legislation through the government shutdown resolution. One would think that would have affected our rates more dramatically, given that the tax is on gross sales, not profits. Yet, the company decided to continue their committment to their employees despite the double whammy of the ACA. But, this is a company that has made committement to their employees the most significant priority of their mission statement. It's also the company that bought two failing resort hotels and a casino and invested $500,000,000 (that's right...half a billion) to create opportunity in the most impoverished, highest unemployment county in the state of Indiana. The company I work for can most certainly be said to "do things differently".

No plans are allowed, The Dems, especially Pelosi and Reid wont accept or even look at other plans to address the issue brought up by the Reps. Its their way or no way.

I would think that a good time for someone to put forth a plan would have been during the presidential election campaign season. I think Obama won not so much because people LOVED ACA, but because they recognized that although flawed, there were parts they wanted to keep, and a total repeal was unacceptable. All Mitt Romney promised was total repeal. He would have been better served to present an alternative. But, he was between a rock and a hard place on that one.

This is a start to you and Bengal and Obama reaching into my pocket and taking my money. I am mad about it. A lot of people are mad about it. The Dems better be worried that this will trump the ineptitude of Republicans in the next election and get a lot of people to vote you people out now that they are slammed in the face with the truth and not a bunch of pie in the sky LIES.

I took your money? I voted for President Obama, yes. In large part, I voted for him for the simple reason that although I recognize that it's not perfect, repealing it in its entirety was worse. By the way...I will be paying as well, so I'm in this with you.

You are 100% correct in that statment.

This is a start - to a single payer system and a full on march toward socialism......or this is a start for the American people to wake up and call a duck a duck and purge itself of liberals/progressives that have no clue to run a business/country to anywhere but the ground.

I'm betting on socialism though, I have lost faith in the majority of "Americans".

I wholly disagree with what you fear. But, I guess time will tell.

In the olden days this kind of thing ended violently.

Is that what you wish now?

 That's hilarous! Love it!

The republicans have NO plan . The only plan they have is to defund it and go back to before the ACA and kiss the insurance companies .....

I hated how it was before. But it allowed more freedom which I believe in .

if you have insurance by your employer and are employed full time - I guess we can thank the lucky stars we have health care. If you are not covered by your job for health insurance or have to pay out of pocket for health insurance, I feel for you. So thankful we kept a plan purchased for a family member a couple years ago. Wanted to cancel, however we were given great advice - Obama Care is coming - do not cancel!!!

Rock Mom, Do you know how much your company pays for your plan, because you certainly have a low out of pocket cost. Do they self insure and how many employees? I know you drive a long way, but better stay there. Good benefits.

I do realize how fortunate I am to work where I do. The company is REALLY good to the employees, not only in the insurance benefits.

To answer the questions you have, yes, they are self insured. One plan available is even lower cost, but it requires that you use the clinic they have in Bloomington, which is not at all convenient

for me, living in Louisville. But a majority of their US employees do live in an area where the Bloomington clinic is an option, which probably helps with costs. Headquarters is in Bloomington, which is why that location is where the clinic is located.

The last discussion of benefits costs were that the company shoulders almost 75% of the cost. My estimate of US employment would be 9-11,000. I'm not 100% sure because in addition to where I work (1400) and the manufacturing facilities (~9-10,000) there are some companies that are affiliated that I may not be considering. They also have facilities and holdings in Ireland, Australia, Switzerland, and Asia. Those employee benefits are different than the US benefits, as you would expect. I do remember last year (open enrollment period) there was a huge discussion as to what to do about the cost of benefits, as they kept rising. The discussion was short, becuase the vision of the founder was that employees would have the best benefits the company could provide. As most of the company's employees are non-union manufacturing or travel/hospitality, there is the recognition that wages are fair, but less than if there were unions i their industries. hey've made the decision to "make up" for that with the benefits package (of which the medical insurance is only one part). This company has never in its history laid off employees. They have always contibuted 4% match to the 401K, and even in lean times have deposited profit sharing into each employee's 401K account annually.

I know it's a great company to be a part of. I've worked in several other companies, and truthfully, up until I took this position, the best company I had ever worked for was Starbucks.
