Going to be a tough task for WC, some factors to consider (Birds coming off a loss, SR nite, at Highlands)

 

This will give the Highlands O a chance to get their potent offense back on track and clean some things up. Birds will reach their offensive average again this week.:thumb:

I think Hhs wins . But if I were WC i would pin my ears back and go after the

hhs qb. He has 42 rushes for neg 118 yds. He cant run at all. So wc has the size and the speed to do it . They may lose and get burnt a few times but it is worth a shot.

Really hope the Birds don't overlook Warren Central and I don't think they will. I've seen a couple of Warren Central games and they have a really nice team. Very athletic with lots speed. They kind of remind me of John Hardin but not quite as big especially on offensive and defensive lines. Against BG they ran the ball down BG's throat with back to back 80 yard drives. They struggled when they had 3rd and long situations and never really stopped or slowed BG's offense. Just concerned HHS after emotional, physical game may be resting up for the playoffs and if our starting QB is out this may become an interesting game. Think the Birds fans will be impressed with some of the Central athletes. Several of their better players go both ways and they tend to wear down late in the games I've seen. Please don't overlook this team. I have to live down here!

This is funny! Yes, the stat may be correct. (I have no idea) But the kid is a stud athlete. He is a great bball player as well, so I'd say he's probably pretty mobile...if he needs to be. Remember, they pass a ton, so there are several opportunities in every game to get to him. And early on in the season, teams were having a little success with that. So my guess is a lot of those numbers happend early and then sporadically throughout the season. He just doesn't have to run in this offense. He's a drop back pocket guy. He has crazy passing numbers even with some entire teams in coverage! Why does he need to run? He's got stud running backs to do that for him! Don't you think at this point in the season someone has tried that? Heck, with entire teams trying to stop the pass he consistently goes off. Can't imagine what would happen if someone did pin their ears back and brought the house. Plus the draws and screens to the running backs....whew...just don't think that's a good idea! It might be good in thought if you look at that stat alone, but if you haven't seen this offense, that stategy would put WC in a huge disadvantage! Talk about name the score!

They won't overlook them! They know they are a good team and we all have respect for them.

 

As far as the "wearing down", I would think most teams feel they are in shape until they play the Birds. Ask Elder! They had several "injuries" to slow them down and they have plenty of athletes. HHS is unique this year in that they can bring swarms of talented kids into the game and not lose a beat. Almost all their receivers and runningbacks switch out just about every play. So imagaine being a DB or LB and running sprints (to cover all the routes, even on running plays) every down. And then come back to the line to find a brand new talented guy waiting for you...already lined up and ready to go again. The recievers catch a pass and then 3-4 guys run immediately off the field and 3-4 more run on and line up. It's pretty amazing to watch. And unless you are extremely deep at DB and LB, it's VERY difficult to defend. And by the way, they also have a punishing stub RB that can run you over and catch the ball out of the backfield. Obviously Elder was able to contain them, but it was a chore for a team like them, with the plethora of talent they have.

 

HHS has seen their share of extremely good athletes this year. Not taking anything away from the WC kids at all. I know they are good. But I'm not sure ANY team HHS has played this year had as individually talented skilled players as the Florida team. I know things didn't pan out for them in the end, but individually and take away the exhaustion factor and IMO, no one had more talented and athletic kids than them. You throw Elder, PT, JH and others in there and they have seen their share of stud athletes.

Warren Central linebacker Emmitt Smith is also still open in his recruitment. The 6-foot-2-inch, 230-pound junior reports offers from Kentucky and Western Kentucky, but WCHS coach Mike Rogers said Smith has not discussed any offers with him.

 

Smith is rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com. He’s listed as the site’s No. 3 middle linebacker in the nation in the 2015 class, and 247Sports.com lists him as the nation’s No. 7 inside linebacker in his class.

 

Smith has 59 solo tackles and 37 assists this season along with two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown Friday. He had 72 solo tackles and 47 assists last year. The linebacker receives mail from most SEC and Big 10 schools daily, Rogers said, and Louisville just started showing interest.

Sounds like there will be a lot of boys resting this week for the Birds..

I'm looking forward to seeing tonight's glimpse into the future of the program under the leadership of "he who is second in line to the throne."

Game concerns me. Visions of John Hardin and Paducah Tilghman in my head.

 

That said, coming off a loss I expect to see some fire in the eyes. I also expect the stud athletes going 2 ways for WC to wear down late 1st half and in the 2nd half.

 

Regardless of who plays QB, I would not be shocked to see HHS put in a completely new offense this week with 2 TEs and 2 RBs and run some "wham" and "slam" plays just to throw WC off, control clock, show they can, put something on tape for the playoff opponents, etc. Don't expect to see it and I don't have any inside info, but it would not shock me.
