Ryle 42 Covington Catholic 21 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

The Freshman raiders have another strong test this week with Cross County Rival Conner

They must guard against the emotional let down from last week.

No team is unbeatable. In football, everybody gets their shot.

The freshman Raiders do not need to prove anything to anyone but themselves.

No one else has any chance at all versus Ryle. Cov Cath is pretty clearly the second best team. If I were Ryle, I would want to play CCH again to prove to any doubters that we are the best freshman team.

Is there talk about not having a Championship Game this year since Ryle defeated CCH in the regular season? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, however, I am new to freshman football and don't know how it is done. To me, both teams probably held some stuff back anticipating the Championship Game. Perhaps not.

Have heard this Ryle frosh group is also pretty good on the hardwood as well.

Didn't the CovCath Jr. High team ( last year) beat the Ryle (Jr. High) team pretty convincingly? What has changed in the past year? I know that Jr. High and Frosh are two different animals, just as Frosh and Varsity are two different creatures as well.

I was just surprised at the Margin of victory and was curious if I was incorrect on the results at the JR. High level last year.

Your correct that Cov Cath beat Ryle at the Jr. High last year. Don't remember the score. I would say the biggest difference is physical maturity and kids from different feeder programs coming together their freshman year. Just a guess and my opinion.

No. My post was a reply to the person who wondered why they are playing again.

I have been told by a former Cov. Cath. coach who was there at the time that I believe that in 2002 and again in 2003, Covington Catholic had undefeated Freshman Football teams and that there was NO championship game since they had already defeated all of the teams. To my knowledge this is the case again. Isn't 9 games enough ?

Well times change and it sounds like its been this way since. Should be a fun game.

Helluva lot better than 4...Just sayin

Sounds like you got a boy on JV. Why don't you let the teams that have a stake in the championship game discuss this and you worry about your team who got beat by both.

LOL. My son plays Varsity...Just sayin:thumb:

Just looking out for our SCITS

Illogical response. Because times change? is not a valid answer to the question of whether a team that prepared at a high level mentally, to be successful in a big game, is now required to do it again against a team they already defeated, to try to prove a point (to whom) that they already proved ?

I say let the Blueboys play. Let the kids play as much as possible. It will gain valuable experience playing in good competitive games. With it looking like no "lock em" game this year for CCH, this may be last chance Frosh get to play this year.

I would think it would be Ryle's decision if this game is played. They won the last game and are in the driver's seat. If CovCath would've won, then it would be their call.
