Any chance of Joker Phillips getting an offer? Could he possibly be better in the MAC. The new AD at Miami is serious about fund raising an attracting coaches to build all sports programs back to a respectable level or above.

I agree. There are some kids in NKY now that could make that roster, but the big thing with Miami is that they have slightly higher academic requirement than most if not all of the MAC schools.

I like the Kerry Combs idea because it gives a direct connection to Colerain and others in the Tri State.

Joker probably has it better as a Receivers coach at Florida, but maybe if the natives grow restless with Muschamp and/or he leaves for Texas, then it could be something he looks at.

A good choice- I think Frost will be a hot name if Nebraska opens up. I think OC at Oregon is also a better gig right now long term.

Frost will die laughing at the phone call asking him if he wants to leave Oregon to go to Oxford and coach the RedHawks.

 

This is a big hire for this AD. He is a hockey guy and was kind of an off-the-wall hire, so this is a hire he'll be evaluated on for quite a while. He'll get another chance soon as the John Cooper debacle in hoops will only last another year or so as well. Outside of Rico Blasi, that place is a MESS. They have two mid-week football games near the end of the season that will be as empty as a D-1 football game can be. What a shame.

Heard a very interesting rumor today from some GCL insiders. Their saying that Steve Specht and Kerry Combs maybe candidates for the HC at Miami. Very interesting if true.

As this program is in a major need of turn around, there are several "BIG" name floating around for the next hire. The new AD is doing some amazing things in his first year there and I think he's going to top it off with this next football hire to get that football program back to being top of the MAC. Kerry Combs is definitely a name I have heard being pushed around, but the AD is playing his cards very close and no one (beyond the firm hired), even the players really know the list.
